The good people of Hobby Lobby are hosting a "Fun Day" at Edwin Warner Park in Nashville, TN. If you are in the area be sure to come by to see new planes, get discount coupons and see the parachute drop. This is the field that you have seen in all the Hobby Lobby videos and pictures.

RCGroups.com will be there to cover the event. Photos will be uploaded throughout the day and look for videos as well.

Click here to see the location. (http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=50+Vaughn+Rd,+nashville,+tn&layer=&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=56.243791,60.380859&ie=UTF8&z=17&ll=36.051597,-86.900826&spn=0.007104,0.011104&om=1&iwloc=addr)

Seems like it would be better served to have it on a weekend where someone besides HL employees and local pilots that can get off work could attend.

The field where they are going to be, Edwin Warner Park, is only available for flying Monday through Friday 8AM to 3PM. They would have to move the event to do it on a weekend. Which I guess they could do...

During the spring, summer and fall Hobby Lobby generally goes out to Edwin Warner every Thursday and flies. The only difference this time is they are advertising it, the flying times are longer and they are giving away freebies :D You can't fault Hobby Lobby since Edwin Warner flying site is only open during weekdays. This was apparently a political move made some years ago so that the golfers and soccer players could have the area for there practice. There are two other Metro Parks in the Metro area but Edwin Warner is by far the nicest.

Guess it's just sour grapes since I can't get away during the week. Sounds like a good photo op for HL. I'll look for the pics on line.

As promised I flew at dawn today here in Northern California in honor of this event. The weather here was fantastic! Since you moved the event to next week I will fly that day in honor of the event in Redman Oregon. I have to work late tonight to make-up for my time off but it was sooooo worth it! Next week will be vacation. :D HAVE FUN!

Jim T,

Maybe you can help with this...My old name on here was "CHockaday" and I have, of course, lost the password. Can my new account and the old one be merged somehow? Or can I get a new password with my new e-mail address?

Thanks

Not unless we move the business out there :D While we wait for that, your welcome to come visit and fly with us any Thursday. Don't forgot about our flying field photos http://www.hobby-lobby.com/flying_photos.htm so you don't miss out on the action. We'll be posting photos from this event on our flying field photos page, so if you come, you may just get to see your face on Hobby Lobby's website.

And the new Mirage that we just got in. I am personally very excited about that one. It looks and flies great. All of the guys with synthesized Hitec, and other negative shift transmitters will be able to appreciate the stock negative shift receiver. Dial up the channel, setup an elevon mix and fly!

HELP... how much wt. will busy bee with stock everything airlift? Looks like good A.P.plane thanks.

Jason can probably help with this one. I don't believe it has been flown with any additional weight yet, but it would make an excellent platform for aerial video/photography. I'm sure it could safely carry most any small wireless camera or digital camera. I wouldn't want to add too much weight to it. My digital camera weighs 6 ounces and I have a video camera that weighs 4 ounces and I have strapped both to a Wingo, Mini Telemaster and Senior Telemaster without any problems, all though the Senior will carry quite a bit of weight and not even know it's there. The critical thing is to try to keep the CG in the appropriate range without adding additional weight beyond the equipment you are lifting.

Check out this aerial video that I captured from my Hobby Lobby Senior Telemaster at one of our local fields. I will be grabbing more aerial video at our event this week.

Out sick,

There are many good things about working at HL, but one is that as an employee I don't have to call in sick to go flying with us. ;) What a deal! :D But, if you are not an employee of HL, and want to join us, we will not tell, and I know that a 1 day "bug" has been going around.

Share the fun

There was a good turnout even though the wind was blowing pretty steady 10-20 Mph, only a few crashes, one mid-air and one lost in a tree. Here are a few pictures I took.

If they aren't there, usually there are a few friendly folks at the field who have always been happy to lend me a hand.

Has anyone seen if the Wing Dragon is out of the tree yet? They were working on it for a couple hours but I haven't been by since Thursday.
