Newbie motor starting question

I just finished a Model Tech P-51 and the motor is mounted upsidedown. Should I turn the plane upside down when first starting it inorder to use the glow plug "stick". Or is it safe to work from the underside of the plane to start it.

I think most flyers start the engine with the plane on it's wheels.

Purchase a remote glow plug, and place it in a position that you can easily and safely access the glowplug.
