I will put up a link here to my slow moving conversion of the new Cox/Pica ARF of the much loved Pica 1/5 scale Waco YMF.

72" span and around 14-15 lbs weight. Motor will be the new Xmotor 6360-11t (1.60 glow class) and ESC will be the new Dualsky 90 amp 12S lipo unit....got these from 2dogrc.

Batteries will be 10S2p or 12S2P 4600 mAh A123 packs....have my last Dewalt battery pack inbound for conversion mow.now.

Radio will be my new Spektrum DX7, with 5-6 of the stock Spektrum standard size digi servos, doubled up as needed for the Waco.

Planning on eventually doing some scale aero-towing with the Waco, towing aloft my 1/5 scale Minimoa from World Models.

So far, it is mostly hinged with the aileron servos installed. Now working on the landing gear and the wheel pants. Next up is the motor mount and other radio installation.

I hope you post a few pics. I myself just got a 12s2p A123 for my Gee Bee Im building. I am hoping my combo will be good with the 110 amp CC controller I have. Neu 2215/2y with 6:&:1 gearbox 31x18 prop. Its gonna be fun.

Hi Mr Thomas

Pretty subject you picked for a conversion. Just remember your going to need a bigger car if you intend to drag it to the NEAT fair this year <kidding> !

I have a lot of fond memorys working with my dad as a kid on a few full scale Wacos.

Good times

Take care

Will it be ready for Texoma?

Pretty good chance for Texoma.

Working on it tonight. Still doing basic assembly. Got my third Dewalt A123 pack this week. Battery assembly next week.

Thomas,
Looking forward to your progress.
I have one of these Wacos hanging in my shop dissasembled wrapped in plastic waiting in line for conversion to elec.. This gorgeous bipe was built by a gent in Ontario ---never flown, & weighs 6 lbs w/ servos/ -- w/o eng.
Do a search on "Waco" in the "Watt Flyer" site in the elec conversion forums & you'll find a pic of a gorgeous black & red elec Pica Waco flown by a member in the Netherlands.

I am sort of overpowering mine, given that I want to do some scale glider towing. It would cruise around very scale like with a .60-.90 equivalent electric, instead of the 1.60 equivalent Xmotor I am using.
