I am interested in getting a Blade CP, and have been practising on the Clearview sim which has a Blade CP, CPP and CX/CX2 models. I can do tail-in/side-in hovers and simple circuits with the Blade CP model consistently on the Clearview sim.

I have been reading about the Blade edition of PreFlight which allows you to use the actual Blade CP (and even the CX2) Transmitter. Based on the comments in the forums, it seems that the graphics on PreFlight is not as good but the flight dynamics seem to be okay. The question I have is this... since this is a Blade specific edition of PreFlight (presumably tweaked for the CP/CPPro), are the flight dynamics for the CP more accurate than on Clearview? I find it quite easy to lift off, hover and fly circuits with the Blade CP on Clearview.

Thanks for your comments.

I'm new to the CP pro. I can fly it all day in clearview without a problem, but have a hard time with a REAL CPPRO. I was surprised how inaccurate the simulators are compared with the real world.

In the real world, the tail doesn't track as good, everything seems to happen faster, also, in clearview, the trim is always perfect, which isn't the case.

Whew. When I get my next set of main blades, we'll see how I fair :)

Well, I have read about the differences in preflight and clearview. clearview is by far more realistic in its flight dynamics than preflight is. I fly mostly planes although I do have a CX and a Lama2 V2, and I am more happy flying my models with clearview than preflight. Although its just a matter of opinion but.....I think preflight pretty much sucks. Just my opinion man, I am getting good with clearviews Hangar 9 Ultrastick. I would take old clearview over preflight anyday. Hope this helps.

IMO, perfectly trimmed and balanced heli flies pretty close to sims.

Recently, an old guy from our club (who has been flying helies for 20+ years, well before gyros were used in R/C) showed me how his tiny Shogun. The thing flew just like in a simulator--he released the stick and the heli was hovering by itself for several seconds! If I were to try this with my BCP, it would immediately start sliding sideway and would smash into something an a split second...

Okay. If a properly configured heli works like the simulator, I need some instructions. I've read online a lot about balancing, flybar pitch, gain settings, etc. The thing never flies like some of the youtube videos or the simulator.

Does anyone have a repair and tuning guide online, a recommended book or magazine??

If you are asking about Blade CP tuning guide, there's a long and extremlly informative thread over at RCUniverse. A gentleman by the name BDavidson (?) wrote an excellent step-by-step illustrated instructions--everything from assembly to adjusting the gyro. Must read for every BCP owner!

Good luck,
Boris

I found a cool how to video on google its 5 parts and the guy goes threw some simple mods, how everything works to balancing the blades, setting the tracking and then he goes into hovering and how to set the gain. All on video with closeups and everything. Remember there is 5 parts, so after you watch one you need to locate the next. They are like 20 minutes long each.

He explains it in a way that you can use it for other helis also because they are all about the basics. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8172940920636541436&q=blade+CP&hl=en
