Found a trick I wanted to share. The smaller APC props don't come with a 3mm insert but if you take the metal spacer from an Axi mount it will fit the shaft and with a hair of reaming work will insert into the small APC props. Walla... ;)

This is if you want to use the prop saver of course.

Could you please elaborate on how the spacer works? I'm having a really hard time getting APC props to work on my Little Screamer Purple Peril. I started with a 8x3.8 SF, which appears to be to big a prop for the LSPP (please check out http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=674011&highlight=purple+peril+prop ).

So I switched to a 7x5E, but this also became unstable and vibrated at high revs, although the motor didn't cut out as much as with the 8x3.8. On the other hand when I attach my old prop saver, which has a flat plate that mates well with the back of my APC props, to the LSPP, the 7x5 props spins smoothly to full throttle (it does cut out if I increase the throttle suddenly). It appears that the LSPP prop saver flares out in a curve all the way to its outer rim, so there's no flat backing to keep the APC props from tipping.

I am using an extra thick o-ring which holds more strongly than using the two o-rings supplied with the LSPP together, am using the larger ID insert that came with the APC prop, and am centering the prop as best I can for each test.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm getting pretty frustrated and am tempted to go with a collet adaptor instead of the prop saver.

Thanks for your help

I think the 7X5 is also a little too much load for the PP? Well, then again, heres the info for the PP from the Hobby Lobby website:

Prop range is from 4.75x4.75 to 9x5. With an 8x4 direct drive prop on 3 cells (11.1V) the motor will draw about 16 amps and deliver about 22 ounces of thrust.

I used the little metal collet that comes with small (2212-26) Axi motors. It fits down inside the prop where the spaces usually go and the hole in the collet fits the LSPP shaft very nicely. Hardly any wobble but that may also be defeating the purpose of the prop saver.

I ended up going with the adaptor later on.
