This is more or less a technical question regarding the workings of a
basic speed controller.
I am assuming that a standard speed controller, controls the
following;
Voltage
Current
Direction of power (forward/reverse)

Is this correct?
Is there anything else that I missed?

power from the batss is fed directly into the esc. power to motor is
directly out. receiver gets its power from the esc. steering servo gets
its power via reciever. power switch is connected to esc not reciever. A
mechanical speedo requires a 2nd servo with an arm to move up and down an
exposed coil of wire, rather like the handset on a scalextric.
