For any computer geeks I need help please. This is not related to the simulator but to the TV and Laptop. If any one is familiar with S-Video, I am having a problem getting my TV to recognize my computer. I have tried changing resolution, turning my TV on through the ATI Display, and various other options on my Laptop. I have also changed the settings on the TV to reflect my input to the panel on the front of the TV with external S-Video connection. When plugged in between TV and Laptop I get just the blue screen on the TV. I am trying to get this hookup to use my Real Flight simulator through my wide screen TV
Can anyone help ??????"

First of all, if you've got a wide screen TV, do you have any HDTV or VGA inputs? These would get you a LOT better picture quality than S-Video.
What brand of laptop is it? My Dell Latutude only initalized the TVout portion of the video card on bootup, so you had to suspend the laptop, and restart it after plugging into the Tv.
Most TV's can only support a resolution through S-Video of 800x600. Does the laptop recognize that a TV is attached? You should not have to change the desktop properties of your built-in LCD screen, there should be another page for your TV seperately.
I'm assuming you have an ATI video card on the laptop. These should be step by step directions.
1) turn off the laptop
2) attach the S-video cable to the TV
3) turn on the laptop (or resume from hibernate)
4) go to your desktop properties (Control panel - Appearance and themes - Display)
5) Go to the tab "Settings"

6) Click the button "Advanced"

7) Click the tab "Displays"

In the most right column, called TV, you might see this - which indicates that the TV is not properly connected - if you see this, you need to check the connection from the TV to the laptop, or test with another cable.

8) click the RED switch at the top of the TV column to enable TV-Out. It will turn blue when enabled. Now, in the TV column, click the blue button with the circle in it. This sets the TV as the primary display (so video overlay and etc works)

I've had nothing but issues and incompatibilities whenever I mix ATI vid cards and s-video... Tried 4 different setups over the years, and never got one to work.
Now, I just plug a MacBook Pro into the 62" widescreen with a direct DVI connection and fly the big screen.
Sorry, not quite the answer the OP was looking for... just my experiences.

I have had luck with my new Dell XPS laptop and going out through s-video and hdmi. My old laptop would work but was just jerky and didn't work well. I'm running a 512MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7950GTX video card.

S-VIDEO is much more difficult to configure as it is an analog signal and not as easily intepreted by your TV if it is a digital TV. I run everything through DVI through an ATI card and have excellent results. I have tried s-video in the past but the results are never that good.

Because Svid is native 480 NTSC and your PC's lowest rez is 640.
It takes a lot of work..
I just have a HTPC on my HD.. obviously, this is much easier.
