I am looking for a powerful video transmitter and I have found something interesting.

I have tried to find differences between the two , but the only one I have found is
10fold price difference !!!
Is someone using one of them ?

Power consumption.. : 3000mW not tx power

the Tx power is ................: 1500mW still unbelievable for the money ..

I used to own a BWAV 3 watt video system.. It worked great, but it also consumed 750mah of power and got real hot.. Not really a big deal if you have a large UA and you need tons of range with your video system.. anything less then a few miles and your good with a 600mw or less video TX..

It's all about the antenna. Watts can be considered secondary.

I would have to agree with that... I know a guy that tested 600mw unit out to 20 miles with a high gain RX antennae...

I would have to add that in addition to being "all about the antenna", it is also "all about the neighborhood". If you are flying near in an area hot with Wifi, high power in addition to a nice antennia is needed. With a high gain antennia only, you are applifying the interfering wifi as well as the received signal from your video Tx.

Where we fly, 3 watts is a must if you want perfect video out more then a few km. You have to beat the Wifi....

thanx guys for the answers ; Is someone using diversity receivers with 3w transmitters ? I am thinking of using high gain tracking antenna , mounted on my car and I am not sure to use diversity receiver or not (needs two antennas). If you are using diversity receiver , which one ?

Please, please let me know where you get your tracking antenna. I am using diversity on 1w, but tracking would be VERY nice.

Has anyone any experience with fractal receiver antennas?

I intend to build tracking antenna similar to the one here :
http://www.cyber-flyer.com/
GPS coordinates are sent through audio channel using tinytrack from
http://byonics.com/tinytrak/

Cyber flyer's is exactly what I would like to build. I already have the GPS coordinates using the TT3. It is from the Coordinates to moving the antenna where I need a little help. Any insight?

I would like to build the Cyber-Flyer also.
Cyber-Flyer, can and will you share the building instruction with us??

I thought the legal limit world wide was 1 watt except for expermental radio amatuer use

Also as the majority of UAV will operate in the country side where there is no WiFi to compete with and with good gain antennas would seem best to stay in the 1 watt rule for most people as getting a amaterur licence is too much work for me

No, in the US the legal limit is much less than 1 watt for unlicensed use. If memory serves me correctly it is more like 20mw.

I think the legal limit is really less than 1mw. This means that going legal would result in a unusable system.
