Harbour Defense Motor Launch?

Does anybody out there know where I can get a fbnreglass/GRP hull in 1/24 scale for a 72' Harbour Defense Motor Launch (HDML)? I know about HSL and PBM, but getting them to answer email queries is difficult, which makes me wonder if I should deal with them....Does anybody know where else this kit/model might be available.?

I know Sirmar makes an HDML kit in 1/48 scale but I'm looking at 1/24.

Killick, I looked in several of my old British model magazines, and also did a web search for a HDML hull yesterday, and couldn't find one. :(

I could swear that Deans Marine made one, or perhaps Metcalf---. :o

The HDML hull that I want used to be sold by The Model Dockyard, as of 1995. A vacuformed version was sold by Model Boats in 1984. I have the fullsized plans for that one. But I'm no good at making wooden hulls.....

Actually, Karl -- I believe the 1:24 HDML hull is very similar to your 1:32 95' "Cape Class" USCG hull in length and beam, and is also a "round bilge" type of hull -- But I don't know (exactly) what the Cape Class looks like....

(You probably have to search the Web using the full name of "Harbour Defense Motor Launch"...and watch those "British" spellings!)

I think I'll now go have a "spot" of tea while pulling my hair out by the roots...I have guns; I have the crew; I even have most of the "fittings" --I just have no boat to put them on. And I even have the money to buy the hull :eek: !

Paul, when I ran my search, I did use the British spelling of "harbour", and typed out the entire request. ;)

Frustrating that not a lot of options came up---. :(

And no, the 95' USCG hull would not be a good match for the HDML. :(

I'd suggest that you keep on pressing your search though, SOMEBODY out there may have one of those old Model Boats hulls in a closet. ;)

A good guess would be David Metcalf---. :D
