I've had this boat in my basement for quite a few years. Been into planes. Now I've decided to clean up Mr. D.
I built the model about 12 years ago and ran it for a couple of years.
It has 2 astro cobalt 25 motors for plenty of power which is provided by a lawn tractor battery. The motors are water cooled by an RC airplane fuel pump.
To get the correct water line I had to add three divers weights (besides the battery).
She puts up quite a wake when under way.
I've added lights including 3 spots, cabin and running lights.
Spring is just around the corner so I figured now would be a good time to get her (him) out of mothballs.

Nice looking model for one that has sat in the basement for so long. Any plans to build another boat anytime soon?

Yes, it is in good shape for sitting for many years. No plans to build anything else right now, but then again I didn't plan on this one either.

Looks awesome. Would like to see some pics of the vessel underway!

It will probably be a couple of months before I get a chance to put her in the water. Right now most ponds are ice. I hate the cold.

Ahh alright, didn't look to see your location, haha. Our ponds and lakes just lost the ice three days ago.

Did you make the Wheelhouse doors, or buy them? If bought, where?

Scott everything on the boat is from the origional kit except for the lighting.

I placed an order today at Harbor Models. And got into a long, friendly conversation with the proprieter about all things model boating and r/c in general. Regards the Darby, he told me his new Darby fiberglass hull would be in his store in two weeks.

Dave is a pretty friendly guy. He is a good source of modeling information.

<<Scott everything on the boat is from the origional kit except for the lighting.>>

I bought mine off E-Bay about 85 percent done....It never came with doors, and the ones I bought off Harbour Models, were definately the wrong scale.
They were advertised as Darby Doors, but were about 1&1/2 inches too BIG.
I think I'll just have to make my own (this is the scary part)
