in Gemini, I have a Robbe mono-switch memory which works like a latching toggle switch, flick down to turn on, flick down to turn back off.

I am using such a device to operate the lights on my Neptun freighter kit, what i need to know, having it powering the lights on the ship, with the model turned off, will this damage the switch unit. The reason I want to know this is because i am putting the ship on a display and have wired the lights through 2 and 3 contacts to allow me to run the ships lights without the rx turned on, using contacts 1 and 2 means that the rx needs to be turned on.

anyone know if putting power through the switch will damage the control side of the relay?

Should be no issue. I don't have the instructions here (not available on the Robbe site), but it appears that your 3 terminals are independent of the logic circuit. By rewiring as you describe, you're just using the switch board as a convenient terminal strip, possibly with the juice flowing through the normally-closed terminals of the relay.

p.s. And yes Ghost, that was me :) :) :)

BTW: As much as I like Robbe stuff, I really don't care for what they did with this product.

First, their mono-switches are just that, they only control one circuit. Most other makers have e-switches which control TWO circuits (stick down for one, stick up for the other).

Second, Robbe makes you buy two different units if you want latched or momentary operation... other makes give you an option on both switched circuits, and independently!

Also: If you should ever need a bunch of switched functions and pop for an MCD Switch-8 or -16, there's an on-board switch which lets you select "display" mode- that is, certain functions will stay on even with no radio input. Designed exactly for what you're doing, no rewiring needed!

I think Robbe do a duo-switch and duoswitch memory as well, however i dont have one of them (yet).

what I did to get the "display mode" is to swap the output from contact 1 to contact 3, oh the one in espirit is a non latched version of the same switch, im going to do the same to that model as well.
