R22/R44 it's on the main mast, poking out the front a few inches.
Static "port" is just an open tube just behind the main gearbox.

206-BIII JetRanger the pitot is sticking right out the nose - I don't
remember if the static ports are flush mounted each side of the cabin
or not.

Schweizer 300 the pitot is on the chin of the helicopter and looks
like an "L".. Not sure where the static port is.. Haven't flown one
of those since May....

There's no pitot/static on an RC heli (and I'm not talking military
UAVs here) and no need for one.

Just saw statics ports on a BIII on either side of the cabin just
forward of the forward doors...

Just the perfect position, with the doors off, to stick a big combat
boot into the slipstream. The Airspeed indicator does weird things.
Using it mostly when evaluating a pilot under the hood but sometimes you
can sneak the boot out there when the pilot is doing standard maneuvers.

After a while they all knew what to expect but every three years you
could count on moving on to a new base/area so I started all over anew. :)

....but I do have a need... :-) air speed is one of the few parameters I
can't record..... but as I want to record up to 15 knt, I fear I may be
p*****g into the wind. Interesting that the R22s is mounted on the
mast.....I guess its getting cleanish air when the nose point down in FF.
Many thanks to you and all for the info.

hehe, I'll have to remember that one.. My instructor for my
commercial work used to lean forwards and backwards in the R22 while
on long X-Country night flights - that really made it a chore to keep
straight and level.

Go buy a cheap GPS receiver (Garmin E-Trex) and stick it on the heli.
Fly it and see how fast it went. :)

It's a tube Swiss, where th' air goes in so t' speedo works. They stopped
using a cable operated speedo about 2 years ago.
