Has anyone done this? I made the mistake of placing an order with quite a few different items. Now I seem to be in the Bermuda Triangle of constantly rotating out-of-stock items, so my order doesn't ship. Any likelihood of a refund?

It was my understanding that ordered out of stock items were reserved as they became available rather than an order held until all of the items were concurrently in stock.
The latter would certainly discourage purchase of many different items.

Heh, heh...
"It was my understanding that ordered out of stock items were reserved as they became available rather than an order held until all of the items were concurrently in stock."
It was my understanding that all the items I was ordering were in stock..
I have asked that the order be cancelled and the $$ refunded. I'll keep the results posted.

I asked for my in stock items to be shipped now, and I would pay additionally for the shipping of the back ordered items.
Lets see how this works.

I asked earlier for the instock items to be shipped immediately and back ordered cancelled with a credit (small total) left on my UH acct. That was last week. No reply.

I got an e-mail today saying if I sent $5 for shipping they would split the order.
I sent the $5. We will see what happens.

I have an E-mail from Janice promising to cancel and refund. No action yet, but I'm encouraged, a little. I hope I don't have to wait until after New Year for that.

They now say:"This is an email to inform you that your item has been dispatched from our warehouse."
Looks good so far.

Order # 2009491, Date: 5/2/2007
I'm a bit disgruntled as well.
I placed an order:
SKU Description Qty Price
BALP01502 Blue Arrow Lipo pack 150mAh 2S 1 $8.50 Backorder
HXT13003S-PQ HXT 1300 3S 12C Lipo (Polyques 2 $39.90 IN STOCK
I asked them to split the order and send the 1300mah lipos while the other 150mah was on backorder. They sent me an email stating that the 150mah is no longer available and was pulled from their website. Now the 1300mah is on backorder as well.
Why would they hold my entire order for something that they they don't even offer anymore? I really hope they didn't sell my (2) 1300mah batteries to someone else, otherwise I'll have to wait for those to be replenished as well. This really doesn't make me happy at all.
Hopefully everything will go as well as my other orders. I got some of them quicker than my hobby lobby orders.

Hello all.
When you place an order for an item on backorder, your in-stock items are reserved for you on the shelf.
Recently, we had an issue where customers (on holidays) were visiting our store and thowing our inventory levels out by placing ad-hoc orders at the door. It's quite hard to refuse a traveller who has made the effort to visit the store.
However we now have a hard and fast rule for walk in orders. If it's on reserve it cannot be sold to walk-in purchases. This has pretty much resolved all back-order/reserved stock issues.
FYI
Backorders are a ticky business and because we deal with factories and not distributors it's unfortunatly part of our business model.
On the bright side we have implimented two new and rather large code updates for our website which better control stock and give a clearer idea to the customer regarding their changed order and backorders.
We now are able to change orders and refund payments much faster.
Should you have an item on backorder or wish to change a product or have any concern, please contact us at support@unitedhobbies.com, should your problem be difficult or particularly complicated support will forward you through to me and I will handle your order personally.
Regards
Jason.

Thanks for the reply Jason. I've placed over a dozen orders to your company have been a really happy customer so far. I was onced shorted a motor (I ordered two but only received one) but a quick email took care of that problem.
It's good to hear that you're allowing refunds now for orders on items that are are on backorder. I have an order for 2 of the RS610's that I'd like to cancel.
I really like the changes you've recently made to the website. Knowing what the ETA for any particular product that's on backorder is really nice.

How long for an order to be delivered in the U.S. from the time it was shipped.

About a week - sometimes slightly more. Right now I'm waiting on 4 orders that supposedly shipped out over a week ago though. I'm hopeful that nothing has happened to them.

Thanks
My order supposedly shipped on the 16th. I knew that I had a while to wait. Just wasn't sure how much time.

I have placed two orders. One took 9 days and the second took 11 to Kentucky. Both shipped two days after ordering. So for future orders I will try to give it a 2 week lead time. BTW, both orders arrived exactly as ordered.

It's been a week and a half since I received the following e-mail (2/12). Nothing further has happened. Sure it's New Year, but she didn't mention anything about needing to wait...
"Hello Roger,
I've done your request and will refund to you paypal account.
I do hope to serving you again in future. Thank you.

Hmm... just to be clear, again:
None of the items I ordered was listed as backordered when I placed the order a month ago, and since then the backorder status has rotated through two different items. That's why I've given up on this particular order. Once I get my $$$ back, I'll probably order again.

YaHOO! They finally sent the refund! It took a reminder e-mail, but they took care of it pretty quickly after that. Total saga took a month, but no harm, no foul.. All squared up.
Now I'll order a few of their batteries...
