Um, ok. Where is Acton. I don't recall of ever hearing of an Acton in SD county. Is it up by Campo.

Acton is near Agua Dulce (Vasquez Rocks), almost to Palmdale.

Hi GrapeApe -- always nice to hear from you. I still haven't covered the new 1-26 2-meter, but since I flew with you last month at Poway, I've already flown it about 6 times. Last week, at Coyote Hills, I flew in what must have been 30+ mph winds and I lost control, and the fron of the fuse broke off. It's just about ready to go again :)

I was at Parker Mountain for the first time, last July 1 or so. From San Diego, I think a good way to go is as follows...

- Get to the Pasadena vicinity in your favorite way (I'm from Norcal so I don't know these things like you guys do)
- Take I-5 North, head up the grade, but just before getting to Saugus and Valencia, tke the I-14 East exit
- Go east on Highway 14 for about 20 minutes or so
- Exit (I think) on Crown Valley Parkway -- look for Acton -- a really small town
- As I recall, we took a right turn at the intersection and went a few blocks and turned right on a city street that eventually became an unpaved road
- Eventually we turned left onto another dirt road and headed up
- At one point, the road crests a hill and theres another small dirt road that goes up an even steeper grade -- go left here and be careful to not bottom your vehicle out in the ruts
- Follow this road up until it seesm you're almost on top of the mountain and you see a small saddle that can accomodate about 8 or 10 cars. This is where you fly.

As you head up to the saddle, we launched off to the right (I think this was West)

The lift was wierd -- like nothing I've EVER experienced before. At one point, there was no wind, and I threw my Dragonette out, thinking this was the only thing that I had that could even barely fly (in the light lift). The Dragonette went up so high, so quickly, I got really scared I would lose the little thing, and I had to fight the down stick to bring it down to eye level.

Amazing lift

Oh yeah,

Happy Flying ;-)
