You can write in Korean in this Club which is open to everyone in East Coast, West Coast USA or in Korea.

Started RC flying in 1960s using single channel, rudder only, escapement controlled plane. First RC plane was Sterling's Mini Mambo.
Current interest: Dynamic Soaring, started last year and I am hooked. Trying to master it before I get too old. Age: 75 The Tick is my mentor.
I am using old slope planes I have while learning DS, such as 2M Lucky, 60" Acacia, Blazer, JW. Eyeing 2M Carbon Blade. I plan to buy it after I crash all old planes on hand.

This is a great meeting place. Proof of our success in starting this new member introduction thread.

Bring Kiho to this Club. We have another father and son team. In this case,
father is 70 years old and son is in his early 40s or late 30s. (how old is Kiho?)

(Correction: The person sitting on chair side by side is not his Son but his wife. Sorry for my mistake. His wife looks still so young and beautiful that she could be mistaken for his son. Lucky man.)

I was back in Korea during 88-92 which I flew with Korean Taegu RC Group.. I presently live in Hawaii and active in Electric heli,ducted fan jet. scale electric.

Hawaii has sea cliffs which offer the best site for slope gliding. If you find one near from you, you should try it. It offers different excitement from powered flights.

My username is EddieNewYork, and I live in Los Angeles, CA. I've been in the RC scene ever since I was a lad, mainly cars, boats, and planes. Last April in 2004 however, I became obsessed with Micro Helis, and have been flying them for about a year and a half now.

My fleet consists of:

2 x Century Hummingbirds
2 x MS Hornets
1 x EF Shogun
1 x MIA Bumble Bee
1 x Piccolo V2

The 2 models that are running at the moment are the Shogun and Piccolo, but I mostly fly the Piccolo, due to my limited flying area which is my apartment. ;)

Thanks John. I came out to LA to study Car Design at The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, but gave up that dream for IT. :( :) :(

The funny thing is when I was looking for an apartment in LA, I made sure it had plenty of space to fly my helis! :D

There is nothing I can do if anyone post greetings for visitors to this club, or chit chat if they already know each other, on this thread.

Don't you greet your guest with niceties when he visits your house?
If your guest is met with silence, it will be unpleasant experience for him and he will never come back to your house again. Such is considered impolite in Korean custom. In fact, as a thread starter, it should be your duty to greet every visitor in English or Korean. Since you do not know Korean, (or never used Korean here) I and corumang are performing the duty for you whenever Korean-speaking members come to our club for the first time.

(Some shows up at another thread - a reason why the number of replies on this thread can not serve as an indicator of number of Korean fliers.)

Let us use this thread for the purpose of both self-introduction and welcome wagon. Let us welcome our new club members with warm greetings and get acqainted with each other. Ask him if you want to know more about him or his hobby.

To meet your needs and others, I opend a separate thread posting only the membership list. If you need to know only about membership information, please use this list.

I arranged these two threads so that they stay on top of this forum all the time to make such information easily accessable.

By the way, could you change the title of your thread to "Korean RC Flyers in US and Abroad" since this club is open to all Korean fliers in Korea and other countries as well as US?

We are running two threads, "New Korean RC Groups Congratulation" started by comurang and "Korean RC Flyers in US" started by red_z06.

Some new visitors to Korean Club are registering at either one of these two threads, splitting up member introduction process.

I believe the reasons for this split phenomenon are:

1. Both thread title are not clear to indicate that the thread is for member introduction, 가입인사.

2. One thread title limits it to flyers in U.S.

3. Both thread starters are not bilingual. Koreans (Korean-speaking) tend to congregate on the thread started by comurang. Korean-Americans who use only English are registering under the thread started by red_z06.

As a solution, I am closing both threads, consolidating two into new thread under the title of "Member Introduction/가입인사>" using my prerogative as the moderator.

From now on, all new visitors to Korean Club are kindly requested to introduce himself at the new thread so that we can maintain accurate track of all membership.

I recently moved to Seoul from Canada to be an English teacher.

I love it here! Seoul is a great city.

I want to buy an RC car but do not know where any hobby shops are. I found one RC shop near Sungshin Women's University, on Subway line 4, but it did not have many RC cars.

Where are some other RC stores? I live in Nowon but can get anywhere in Seoul on the subway.

My name is Youngseok Shin, live in Daegu, SouthKorea. I like fast things in the air especially F5D, F5B and nowadays I began to fly some of DS planes.
We, who live in SouthKorea, can enjoy DSing only in winter because there`s not much nice wind that you have at your country.
I started DSing only a few month ago, but I think I can do it nicely, And I hope so.^^*

Hi all,

I joined RCGroups a few months ago when I got into R/C planes. Now I'm happy to introduce myself here on the Korean forum.

I'm a Canadian guy teaching English in Daegu. I speak very little Korean so I'll be posting in English. I just returned to Korea after hanging out back home in Canada for the summer, where I got addicted to R/C flying.

Now I've had the incredible luck to meet the local slope soarers and just returned from my first trip to Hwanggeum-san. There was no wind, but I can tell that this is an amazing location. Luckily I brought my slow flyer (ParkZone Slo-V with brushless/LiPo setup) and this was my first flying since arriving in S. Korea a few weeks ago.

Thanks, Albatross club, for welcoming me with open arms. I wanted to learn slope soaring even before I knew about Hwanggeum-san and the local flyers. I think I'm going to have some pretty good weekends this winter ;)

At Hwanggeum-san yesterday, I took some aerial video (with a CVS camcorder - if you want to know more about this camera, search for "CVS" in the Aerial Photography forum). I will post the video separately in this forum.

I started with Freeflight about 24 years ago at the age of 10. I built my first scratch built model which looked much like what is now know as a GWS slowstick. From that point on there was no stopping my obsession. I started with thermal gliders, then went to Gas trainers, then back to gliders but on the Slope, then now... into electric foamies...
And now..... I manufacture my own designs and invented some unique functions and designs which will be soon in my future products...

Thanks for the this forum, it help me lot. isn’t it internet good thing.
Way back(twenty years ago) when I start fly heli for first time, I couldn’t get it off the ground and I quit. but now before I didn’t even start building heli, I was off the ground and flying.

Happy New year !! I'm planning to fly one of my planes on/near the one block east from Wiltern theatre (Western + Wilshire) at midnight pulling a lighted banner saying "Nanoplanes.net wishes you a Happy New Year!2006"
If I was a better Pilot I would fly all up and down Wilshire with that sign.... anyone want to help me do this? I would have to say probably no one...
I guess you can tell I have no life.... hehe. j/k

Pulling a lighted banner at midnight along the main street is a novel idea but I expect difficulty in flying a R/C plane along a throughfare at night, let alone pulling a banner.
Also it might be illegal. Isn't this a joke? :eek:

LA지역은 주로 아포로 비행장을 사용하기가 편리합니다.
나도 글랜델에 가면 아포로에 나가곤 합니다.

이변 주말은 계속 비가 오고 춥다고 하니, Apollo 에는 못 가게 됬읍니다. 어제도 들렸으나, 흐린 날씨에 추어서, 날리지 않고 돌아 왔읍니다.

요세, 새로 만든 FW-190, 34" wing, 쪼고만 mini scale를 날리고 있는데, 오래 간만에 engine기를 해보니가, 이 놈이 말성을 많이 부려요.

처음에는 400 cobalt motor 를 달었드니, 힘이 없어서, 활주로에서 뜨지도 못 해서, OS 0.10 engine을 달었드니, 이 것도 힘이 부족해서, 이륙하자 마자 실속을 하지 머애요. 그래서, OS 0.15 을 달었드니, 쏜살 같이 올라 가는 것은 좋은데, 1 oz gas tank는 3분도 못 날고 기름이 떨어저, 불시착륙을 하게 됬으며, 부력이 적은 mini scale기 라서, engine이 죽어 속도가 느리면 곧 실속을 해서 떨어지는 바람에, engine mount가 부러지고, 애를 먹입니다. (작은 비행기는 날리기가 어렵습니다. 만들지 마십시오.)

tank를 2 oz로 교채하고 (더 큰 것은 들어 가지를 않음), engine mount도 새로 달고, 어제 시험비행 하려 했으나, 날씨 때문에 못 날렸읍니다.

Ok, I can give a little info about myself.

In Sweden where I grew up, I used to build a lot of RC models (cars, planes, boats - the whole lot) when I was young (14-18 yrs), Then other things became a priority. I am now 37 and married with 3 boys (8, 10 and 12 yrs old).

I work for General Electric, representing the company in a Joint Venture we have with Hyundai Card and Capital in Korea. I've been here with my family for a little over a year now, and will stay for at least another year. I work with Marketing for Hyundai Card specifically.

I live in Yonhee-Dong, behind Yonsei University, and Close to Seoul Foreign School where my kids attend.

I don't always have a lot of time to spare, but in this sport, I can have my kids involved as well to some degree. I am interested in all kinds of RC crafts, but right now I think flying is the most interesting (am pretty much a beginner again). Boats could be interesting as well, as there is a lot of water here in Seoul :-)

I'm looking for people in Seoul who can help showing me a little about the Where's and How's, and if there is any local club in Seoul, where someone speak some English, it would be great.

I have been in RC for 5 years and I enjoy it very much.

I enjoy RC HELI, engine airplane, some slope and parkflyer now..
while I was In Korea, I went slopes with some of Xevious club members.
I used to Fly in dallas, Texas ( Richardson Renner road )

now I spend more time to build than fly. my next project is
Blue foam engine pusher prop jet ( .40 ~ .60 size ).
Does anybody have any experience with above configuration ?
I am interested f-22, f18, or kingcat like jet.

제 이름은 Adrian Yoon 이고 r/c 는 본격적으로 시작한지 한 6년 정도 됩니다. 처음에는 Electric 을 날리다가 한 3년 전부터 sloping 을 시작해서 지금은 계속 슬로핑만 하고 있습니다. 최근에는 Slope Combat 에 맛을 들여서 Poway 에서 이벤트가 있을때마다 가고 있습니다. DS 도 시도 해봤는데 아직 잘 안 되더군요. :D
최근에 Mach Dart 하나 구입해서 60" MOM 도 한번 해볼 생각입니다.

여기 R/C Groups에 자주 들어와 좋은 정보 많이 배우고 갑니다.

가끔 미국 동부쪽으로 출장가게 되는데.. 좀처럼 R/C에 시간내기가 힘들더군요...
