Greetings -

Looking forward to this one! To give the rest of you an idea of the "flavor" of this event, check out the article with color photos at: http://www.halcyon.com/bsquared/RCSD.html look for the reference to the Spring 2001 Ste. Genevieve event. Ron, work your weather magic again and give us sunny skies and dry conditions!

Andy come up after the meet. Didn't you do that last year Brad ?

Is Baldwin far from St Gen ?

andyberner
Sep 28, 2001, 08:58 PM
I don't think I can make it, as the meet is off at Spanish lake and is afternoon rather than morning. The drive looks long, as Spanish lake is due north of St. Louis by about the same distance St. Gen is south...

Well Ron,
I've got two flying and working on number three! If I get my speed control back from Tower, and the crystal (Which I lost and reordered.) for my micro receiver in time, I'll be a happy camper. I just know that with your weather touch, It will be an excellent day!! :D

...been praying for a real nice weather. By the way, I'll post the

directions next week.

Ron

electricrcflyer
Oct 18, 2001, 05:38 PM
Here's the Direction:

If you're coming from the North, take 55 South. From the South,
Take 55 North.

From 55 South, exit at 150, then make a LEFT to Route 32 (to Ste. Gen).
From 55 North, take the same exit but make a RIGHT to 32 (to Ste. Gen).

Route 32 will take you to town. The first stoplight, you'll see a
small hospital on the left side and CountryMart/strip Mall on the right. Proceed to 32 by staying on the hospital side. Don't stay on the CountryMart side (that's route 61...wrong way).

You'll reach an intersection in about a mile, you'll see Amoco on the right and Firstar bank on the left. Make a right and this takes you to Market St. Go straight until you reach S. MAIN St. and make a left there. Go all the way. It continues as N. MAIN St.
The you'll start seeing an open field. Our airfield is on the right.

Am not sure if any of our club members will set-up a food stand. Anyway, There is McDonald's, Subway, etc. within 2-3 miles.

Our zip code is 63670 in case you want to check weather.com.

Jerry,
It's a great site, with super company, and put on by an excellent host!! Ron (The host) also brings great luck with the weather. I've been there twice and enjoyed it both times!! It is well worth the three hour drive for me.

Hi Jerry. It may take up to about 5 hours from Kansas City to Ste. Gen. It is only a Saturday event; flyers start arriving around 8:45 am and leave a little shortly after 5pm.

The event is attended by great nice people. You'll never feel out of place. If the weather cooperates, we'll be assured of a real fun day.

Looks like things are a "go" for the Springfield, IL contingent for this weekend. Rick Fair and I are both planning to come although there are some logistic issues so we don't know if we're coming together or seperately!

If anyone needs to stock up I'll have a supply of laser cut motor mounts and control horns with me as well as a Flash EDF kit, etc.

As a favor to my buddy Azarr at Eclectic Electric Specialties (http://www.azarr.com) I'm bringing a small stock of his "must have" products for electric planes.

He has a fantastic line of small COLLET TYPE! prop adapters that fit a lot of our small motors including Speed 400, 380, the GWS motors, etc.

I'll also have some of the M-72 antennas that hide away inside the fuselage of your indoor, park flyer, and smaller planes. These guys weigh only a few grams each!

Of course my own stuff will be there too including various laser cut mounts and a few other surprises.

My folks are coming down in thier camper and are planning to spend the night at St. Gen. Friday night. Too bad I have school and work...

Looking forward to Sat. and seeing you all, I have two flying and maybe three if I get a replacement GWS crystal in..... As usual, UGLY Planes all....

THe weather looks promising to date...sunny Saturday, 55, (low 30s), 7-9-11 wind, no chance of precipitation.

Don, what channel on the GWS crystal do you need? Is your radio JR/compatible?

If you guys need JR-compatible radio gears or whatever, let me know...I'll let you use whatever spares I have. Let me know in advance so I can bring them. Don't let this prevent you from not coming Saturday.

Ron,
It's a GWS micro reciever on Channel 25. Yes, it's JR compatable, I use a Airtronics radio. I've got two to fly, so I'll be there. I just built another and wanted to fly it too. It takes a micro reciever instead of my airtronics one.
Thanks a lot for your offer!! I appreciate it a lot! :D :D :D

A friend and I are planning on leaving tonight from Kansas City. Not sure how far we'll make it tonight. I guess we'll look for a place to stay somewhere so. of St Louis. Any suggestions of a motel would be appreciated. I've been to St Gen. several years ago.

Hi Ron,
I'm planning on being there tomorrow.

Due to some medical issues and too much to do at work I never finished my Flash :( ... but I've got 2 new planes plus my Stagger Bee that I'm bringing.

I should arrive around 9AM ... see you then.

Hi Tom and Jerry. Glad to know you can come.

Jerry, there's a Microtel Hotel in Ste. Gen. It is on route 32 (follow my "directions to Ste. Gen" ), right side of the road, before you reach Casey's Gas Station. You wont get lost here...it's a small town. Better to stay here than anyplace north...it's 5 minutes away from the airfield.

For the third time in a row Ron worked his magic at selecting a date with good weather. The skies were sunny although the wind did kick up a little from time to time.

There was a fair amount of carnage among the EDF planes present. Some really cool flights too!

Turnout was slightly less than past events. The people who let the cool weather keep them away just missed out on a great day of flying and visiting. On the up side the guys from Kansas had a good enough time that they may look into an event of some sort in the Kansas City area some time next year!

My personal thanks to Ron and the club for hosting another sucessful event. I had a great time and am looking forward to next year.

It's YOU guys (13 flyers, no less than 30 airplanes) that I have to thank for coming inspite of the somewhat cold and windy day... No fun without your great company.

Kevin Cox thrilled the crowd w/ his Boeing JSF X-32 that flew majestically...very awesome...enough reason for us to be there.

My white matter glitches and probably some contributions from nature (wind and bright sun) caused me my Gnat and Electroscreamer...and almost my T-33 (Thank you, Mark!). I may have to rethink my EDF 'quest" :(.

We met 2 great people from Kansas city, Jerry and Randy. An e-meet in that part of the country may be planned for next year.

Again, thank you all.

Ron,

Sorry I missed the fun. I had to take my daughter to a girl scout outing. However, in the afternoon your weather magic was working up here. I went out to the club field and flew my latest creation for her maiden flight. You can see it here: http://www.geocities.com/jbrundt/eagle01.jpg Although not electric it was a ball to fly. First flight went very well. I have some tweaking to do but after 4 years of working on it I was very happy to see it take to the air and do so well.

Anyone ever done a 1/3 scale aerobatic bipe like this in E-power?

Hope to see you again in April! :D

Greetings!

Ron, thanks again for putting a fun day together. For those who missed out on the day, the weather was a bit cool and breezy at times but the sun was out and the skies were clear. I have some photos of the day's events but need to get them all scanned and posted to our club web site. I'll post a note when they are on online.

Looking forward to next Spring and the next Ste. Gen and Boeing E-Meets. It will be fun to see what everyone's built over the winter months!
