Last year we had about 20 pilots and their planes with virtually no promotion. I think everyone had a great time at a very relaxed event. We had attendees from Ohio, various parts of Kentucky, and one from Georgia.

We are following the same basic format this year of "lets just get together and fly". This year we have tried to get the word out and we expect a larger turn-out. We have added more prizes, a food-vendor and AMA sanctioning (for the advertising mainly). This year will be a quasi-litmus test for asking the club to extend an entire weekend to us for 2002 so come on out and help us make it happen.

Vendors are welcome to attend and I have had some inquiries. We are not charging for vendor space this year because of the single-day format. We would prefer that vendors attending register as pilots. I do ask that if you are a vendor planning on attending and selling that you contact me direct via e-mail and let me know so I can arrange appropriate space for you at the site.

If you are interested in staying overnight here are some hotels that are very close to the flying site (6-8 miles away) and right off I-75.

I second that. Great job guys! What an array of planes!! It certainly helps give you a better idea of what kind of plane to purchase the next time, and motor, etc. It was also a real treat to watch "The Pros" in action! Keith Shaw, Jim Ryan, and others put on a real show.

Hello all! We want to thank EVERYONE who came. It was a very impressive mix of models and pilots. I will definitely enjoy giving this event report at the next club meeting http://www.ezonemag.com/disc/smile.gif.

The eflight vendor community really helped us out with prizes as well. It ended up that we had enough prizes to cover all the awards and give every registered pilot some sort of door prize. Thank you to Azarr, Aveox, Castle Creations, Multiplex, X-Cell Models, Dymond Modelsport, SR Batteries, Flying Models Magazine, Hobbytown USA, and Velocity Models.

We will be putting a pictorial and report on the event at our website soon and I'll post a link here so everyone can see what a great time we had. I'll leave most of the details for that report. Here are some numbers we were able to compile at the end of the day:

Registered pilots - 34
Planes - 80+
New LMAC club members - 1
New AMA members - 2
Total number of people - estimated over 150 throughout the day, we counted a few times and the largest snapshot number we got was 130 around mid-day.
Value of prizes donated - over $700

Winners:

Pilot's Choice - Mark Wolf / Ryan STA
Best Helicopter - Alan Akers / E-LMH
Best Engineering - Jerry Smartt / Miss Philly
Best Sport Plane- Charles Scully / 4-star 40
Best Jet - Jim Ryan / F4D Skyray
Best Scale Plane - Keith Shaw / Dehavilland Comet
Best Slow/Park Flyer - Doug Algeier / Lazy Bee
Long Distance Award - Jerry Smartt / 640 miles

We hope to see everyone again next year!

What a great Fly-in! It is the highlight of the summer!

I was impressed by the facilities, the organization, and the huge variety and quality of models being demonstrated.

I only wish that I had time to christen my Virus 400a prior to the meet. :-(

I am already looking forward to next year. Great job guys! Thanks to LMAC for a cordial reception and first class facilities.

Thanks to all the folks who put so much time and effort into this event. You could tell how much work went into it since everything seem effortless from a pilot's view. A great low key event with lots of flying both in the air and "hangar" type.

An absolutely first rate E-vent. Hope to make it next year too. Keith's wife, Melissa, deserves a big thank you for her work at the registration desk, and in the transmitter impound all day. Dave C.

Can't thank you all enough for a great fly-in, and I sure have my share of Sermos connectors now! http://www.ezonemag.com/disc/smile.gif

It was definitely above and beyond what I was expecting, with the depth and breadth of planes that we saw out there -- we'll definitely be making it out there for future events.

And yes, much thanks must be given to the Mistress of the Impound, Melissa.
