Hello,

I will be staying in Frankfurt for about one year starting from the end of
February as a result of my company's personnel assignment(I will work
in an airline office in Frankfurt airport). As the RC may be the only mean
for me to spend time in Germany because my family do not accompany me,
I expect good information from your experience. I will bring my T-Rex 450s
and will buy electric airplane/glider locally.

The items that I am eager to know is :

1. Is regulation on RC strict in germany ?
- Is fyling area restricted strictly ?

2. Any local club specilizing in electric chopper or airplane ?
- Do I have to join local club ?

3. Any good RC shop in Frankfurt ?

Thank you

1. Is regulation on RC strict in germany ?
Yes and no...
Regulations are quite strict in regard to frequencies, for example.
R/C flying is only on the 35 MHz band, 40 MHz is reserved for ground vehicles.

- Is fyling area restricted strictly ?
Flying areas are restricted in so far, that you can fly an electric powered airplane ( fixed or rotary wing ) anywhere, as long as you are more than 300 meters away from populated areas, and the model does not exceed 5 kgs gross weight.
For IC powered aircraft, or aircraft exceedeing 5 kgs. gross weight, you have to fly at an approved club flying field. Each club has an "ascent permit" which sets limits in hours of operation, max flight altitude allowed, etc.
These limitations are established individually for each club, depending on the local circumstances ( vicinty of populated areas, full size flying fields, etc. )
Often times, even environmental aspects come into play, at some places, flying will be restricted during the mating season of endangered bird species, for example.

2. Any local club specilizing in electric chopper or airplane ?Don't know...
- Do I have to join local club ?You don't have to, but I would recommend it.

3. Any good RC shop in Frankfurt ?
Don't know...

Mr. Kang,

If you buy Spektrum SS radio, it may solve your frequency problem in Germany.
You can continue to use the same radio when you take it to Korea.

I believe 2.4G radio is universally approved and, therefore, it should be legal in Germany, too. If I am wrong, I hope to see the imput from our German members.

If you are to use 35 MHz, you may be able to pick up a 35 MHz TX Frequency Module and receiver made by Hitec in Korea. They export 35 MHz radio to Germany.

Hi John,

It will be better if I can continue to use my JR's X3810 transmitter by just purchasing
35 Mhz RF modue. However I don't think it is easy to find the module for old type
of transmitter in Germany.

If the module is not available, I have to buy Hitec's radio with RF module in Germany.
To my knowledge, Hitec will not sell 35 Mhz radio in Korea due to local strict frequency
regulation.

Anyway, thank you for your advice.
