Hello all you scale fans!
CASA is proud to announce the FIRST ANUAL FALL AERO-TOW! The weekend of November 9th-10th. This event will take place at Frank Thompson's Horsefeathers Aerodrome, Hurleyville, (SE of Warrenton) Virginia. The same great field that the CASA Memorial Contest is held.
Pre-Registration Is Requested (by 4 Nov). Since this is our first aerotow we would appreciate your help here so we can get a head count of how many pilots we can expect. Vintage and Modern Scale Sailplanes are welcome. We have 3- tugs lined up for the event but if you have a tug and wish to help out with towing, by all means let us know.
This event will be a EMS International Scale Gliders Gold Medal Flying Competition.
CONTEST RULES:
1. MODELS can be aero-towed or self propelled with up and go scale motor systems. The organizer determines the start sequence. The organizer gives the time framework. For example: 9 AM to 5 PM.
2. PILOTS flying for time will have their timing stopped at the designated event end time. In the course of the event time framework, as many flights are flown as possible.
3. START Aerotow or electric up and go systems are allowed.
4. CLASSES All models start in the same class.
Judging procedures:
1.THE FLIGHT Timing starts at take off and ends upon landing. Only full minutes counted. Calculations are completed after event time ends. Only the one flight with the longest flying time is counted (per pilot) for a medal, and these are then permanently recorded along with all other official timed attempts for that pilot for that day.
2. LANDING The landing takes place in start direction in a field designated for it. The landing is not evaluated.
3. PRIZES All users receive a participation certificate
- for 20 minutes flying time(not cumulative) you receive a bronze medal
- for 40 minutes flying time(not cumulative) you receive a silver medal
- for 60 minutes a flying time(not cumulative) you receive a gold medal
4. Modifications in the written rules: Procedure changes are always published at the yearly start. The sponsor (EMS) reserves the right to modify rules.
Rules change 2/3/02.
Times decreased for all medals. Also, pilots can add time for all official attempts at each event for a total time to be posted on the EMS web. Minutes accrue towards grand prize. Medals awarded for best one flight only at each event.
On-Site Camping permitted. Porta-John will be on-site.
