I have this Magnavox portable DVD player with a 7" screen. The DVD player is messed up. The disk keeps skipping and gets stuck. So I am hoping that I could use the display as a standalone unit that I could either hook up an external player or game system. The problem is that the unit does not have AV inlets. Is there someway I could add the inlets to it or use the screen for something?

The screen it's self will have to have video in somewhere, just have to find it. I took one of them apart and made it into a digital picture frame. I removed the screen, put it in a picture frame and put one of these http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Default.aspx?CatID=1093 on the back of the frame. The screen had just 3 wires going to it, video, power and ground. Easy enough to figure out with a meter.

The audio will have to be done seperately - I didn't care about the audio for my picture frame.
