Hi
I bought one of the USB programmers Malc C was talking about in another thread. It arrived this morning and I had it built up straight away. It works fine on nboth my PC's. It programs the ver 2.0 4 channel fine and the USB lead works on my PC but when I try to get the 8 channel ver3.3.1 although it programs the chip ok when I plug it into my PC none of the bars move when I wiggle the sticks. It shows up OK as the NG2 and the circuit must be OK as it works (same board just reprogrammed) with the 4 channel set up.
Any ideas? Have I overlooked something?

Maybe I should contact Chris and sort out some commission for all the sales I've generated ;)

I would assume that if it plugs in and is recognised by windows (ie you don't get any error warnings about a mis functioning USB device) then this would suggest that the PIC is running so its not a hardware issue. I think the NG2 version you are having problems with is configurable via some GUI software the guys wrote, have you tried using that to communicate with the PIC ?
I did notice that the latter versions have an option to use pots so you can make your own controller, maybe the PIC has defaulted into this mode and thus is not looking for a PPM signal ? - Have a read of the manual, or drop the guys an e-mail as they wrote the code and could probably shed some light on to the problem

It must be something in the code as I put your (Malc C) code in and that worked fine. I would still like to get to the bottom of this just to find out whats wrong....

Well that confirms the hardware if two different lots of code work.
I can only concoure that your conclusions must be right. Try e-mailing or PM Alessio to see if they could help, or download the files again and try re-programming the PIC. Other than that I have no idea

If memory serves me right, the original version of the NG2 used the PPM standard, but then Shaul got involved with some PCM testing, and a newer version came out. It may be that with some radios the new version sets itself to pcm or analogue mode and thus won't recognise the PPM signals from your tx. Have you tried ver 3.3.0 ? or any of the older versions http://alessioandrea.altervista.org/olderversions.html
