photo sensot on my mini tach

ok i ran over the tip of my HANGER 9 mini tach with my car and crushed the light sensor. i get way to many hits on the digikey website to know what one i want, anyone know which one i need

Probably the first requirement is one that is the same size. Guess you have it taken apart ? Unless it has a number maybe someone else might have done a replacement. All photo sensors are similar in the way they work so you might get lucky if you can match up the correct size.

These tachos usually use the cheapest sensors available, I know mine uses a type called a Light Dependent Resistor LDR they come in two common types 70kOhm and 9KOhm, I looked on the Digikey web site but nothing came up, they are available though, at least here in the UK through a company called Maplin.
