Hey my brother is getting back into flying. He use to fly the Gentle Lady. What is a good plane to get him now along the same lines but maybe a little faster airfoil.... But can still learn how to fly and have fun.
Thanks for any help.

I like my Art Hobby Colibri. It's only a 1M but it's an easy/fast build and a good all-around thermal/slope plane. Very forgiving and very durable to learn on.

I like it also but it is more of a slope plane than a flat-land thermal plane. It just comes out with more weight than you may want for flat-lane thermal. The pods were weak (not sure if they have changed from two years ago) and the booms are also. Do some searches before you order.

P.S. I have the wing left and will scratch a new pod and get a better boom to have it rise from the ashes.

Hi Mad Man
Have a serious look at the Grand Illusion 2M from MM Glidertech it is a little bit more robust than the GL you are used to flying and it has the SD 7084 which is a good thermal section. Certainly a little bit faster then the GL and it will also slow up well for training/thermal turns.
Call Merrill Brady in Downey, Cal <http://www.mmglidertech.com/>
I sell these kits in Australia <www.rcsailplane.com.au> and I am building one myself for our RES 2M contests and the balsa/spruce quality is excellent. The resultant structure is well though out, strong and light.
Should have mine flying in a week.
Cheers
Dave

Boy I don't know how you fly your Colibri but mine zoom launches off my hi-start and has even landed like a lawn dart just to be picked up and re-launched. And thermalling...it's no bubbledancer but I've specked out more than a few times riding thermals. But then again, I'm in Calif where thermals are king! :D
If I were to do it again, I'd buy another Colibri no doubt. And Art Hobby is good to deal with.

I’m glad you have had good luck. As I said, mine is older and may not be the same as today’s model. My mileage varied. I would have people look at the two threads below before ordering.
