I have just finished the fuse of a Windward sailplane using a set of 70's plans. I am now cutting out the ribs for a 88" wingspan. this is 16" more span than the stock 72". I want to leave it as a diheadral wing (as this was the predecessor to the Windfree}. My question is this, how much diheadral do i use in the wing? Thanks for your help in advance

I built one of these during the mid-70's. Does that bring back memories... What is wrong with the existing dihedral? ... considering you are adding only 8" per wing panel...

I also built one back then. Still have the plans(which are not in one piece). I slope soared it in SoCal. Folded the wing pulling out of dive. Built another wing with spuce spars. Would like to see pics of yours.

kurt,
I thought about that, but just wanted to make sure there was no set rule for the diheadral.

thanks

I have found that a simple evaluation works for me.
Wing tip height relative to wingspan. One inch for every 14 inches of span seems to be popular, and works well for slope with ballast. thermalling empty (light) one inch for every 12 inches of span yields a bit more roll authority for working lift (my personal preference). :D
