Hi Gents,

Need some help here. As I stated in my blurb concerning the Pilatus B-4, I purchased a used LET 6m DG-600 from a good friend of mine. I guess he had some problems with the nose tow release and cut it out.

It seems that about 1/4" has been removed. But when I put in different size tow releases (1/4-1/3 scale) they all seem to interfere with the canopy hinge arm when the canopy is in the "down" position.

My question is : Did LET make a "shorty" tow release for this kit?
Anyone have a picture or two they would like to share on this subject? Sure would be helpful!

Also would like to know where the proper CG location is.
I'll be putting a battery backup system in this as well as a seperate battery for the retract as it is a monster.

Many thanks

Hi there Bill not too sure on a short release from let but I can think of two very simple solutions, 1 is to drill a 8mm hole in the underside of the fuse with a sliding pin. 2 is to make your own unit with some 8mm id arrow shaft. drill a 2mm hole at the towing end at right angles to the tube and drive a 2mm pin accross the tube. inside the 8mm tube you mount a solid 8mm od rod with a 3mm hole in the middle to allow a 3mm rod to slide down the length. hey presto one short release and dirt cheap to make!!

Thanks for the idea,

I think I managed to get this done. Added about 1/4" to the nose with FG and milled FG/ epoxy. This appears to be the amount that was cut out. After that was done, I put in a 1/4 scale tow release. Seems to work perfectly although it was hitting the fwd part of the canopy tongue/gooseneck... Since it was made out of FG and very stout, I dremeled a groove and a hole in it to accomodate the tow release. Doesn't seem to affect the strength of the canopy at all.
So, I think this small problem is solved.

Now I just need the proper CG.... Anyone out there have this kit or am I the only one?
