The Corado is in its 3rd life cycle, first one with SD section, then the HQ 8,5/3. Now it comes also with new larger tip panels with HQW 8,2/2,6. Center panel unchanged as is fuse and elevator. What was said by F3X.com Tom Copp in januari 2006 has become true, he should be able to deal them soon as the new Zenith. Hope to read flight test report soon from you :) because i don't have one (yet).

Tom at F3X.com mentioned to me earlier that he thought the old 3.2 meter Zenith and the new 3.7 meter Zenith/Corado will have interchangeable fuselages (i.e. same mounting screw locations). Do you know if this is the case? (It would be nice to be able to interchange parts when evil picnic tables attack my gliders).

Also, do you know if the Corado/Zenith is made by the same people who make the Sharon? (A few years ago I saw an advertisement for both the Corado and Sharon being sold by HKM. I believe HKM is the distributor and not the actual builder of the Sharon).

Thanks. John Elliott

Lets just say NO. Please don't confuse the models from Vladimir with any HKM or Jasa product. If anyone has seen both the diference in quality is apparent.

Yes, I can't wait for my shipment to come. :D

It's my understanding that one could upgrade the Zenith to an XXL by just buying the larger outer panels, but you must get guarantee for that from distributor.
Another thing is that i did not see the XXL with a V-tail so far, dunno if X-tail is mandatory for the extra span version.

Yes you can get just the tips.
The 3.7m wing in testing is wonderful with the X tail but the V tail feels like it needs larger stabs and that means a new mold. He will try a longer (more span) stab first but if the chord needs to be wider than a new mold will come. He is very particular with these details.

Hi Jurgen

Who is selling the XXL in Europe?

Best regards

http://www.paul-schneider-modellbau.de/ (Corado2000 = Zenith)
http://www.soarhigh.co.uk/corrado_2___2000.html
Thats the only two i know of since HKM stopped dealing, i looked at their sites not mentioning XXL so far. Know that there is a choice between glass, carbon-D-box and full carbon version, don't use the light version for extreme hard launching. I have full carbon (non XXL), it's made of 93gr/dmē heavy  carbonfabric for AUW 78oz (2210gr), pretty good.
Producer is also visiting contests (F3B for sure & in the eastern part of Europe) where he presents the product.
I'll send you also Personal Message later.
Jurgen.

I'm not sure if Soar High are still trading?

They may have evolved into South Coast Sailplanes at:

Soar High Models sold their business interests to South Coast Sailplanes two or three years ago.

To Tom Copp: is there already something that can be said about the flying properties of the XXL versus previous version? I know its quite early to ask.
Thx, Jurgen.

Yep, in September 06 while I was in Germany at Lunen for F3B I spent a weekend with Vladimir, he had already test flown the prototype version at his home field in CZ and he said in dead air the new 3.7 will get 10 minutes easily. He was very excited. He also said the v tail fuse seamed a bit short with the new wing but we talked it over and he will try larger tails for the v first. The X tail fuse is perfect with the new wing. If any of you have flown a carbon Zenith you know that thay can take the hardest F3J launch and can out thermal anything else, I know thats a big statment but I have never seen a model keep pace with the Zenith in a thermal. It siimply out climbs other models. Use reflex and it comes home in a hurry. For F3J I think its the best.

The one that builds the Zenith's in CZ , not the other Vladimir that builds the Supra in the Ukraine.

Another European distributor found:
www.flybiwo.com
section "Cz imports".
Jurgen.

At recent date, flybiwo removed zenith from the list

Altho the new XXL wing is perfectly fitting & flying the "old" X-tail fuselage, the new XXL will get a new X-tail fuse after all, little shorter fuse, higher fin & wider elevator. For V-tail comes a new fuse-Vtailcombo. (advice is not to fit the XXL on the older V-tail fuse).

Manufacturer has no website, info is coming sporadic, dripping in occasionally to several people which i gather here. I do this without any personal advantage but just to widen the scope of interest and belief in the Corado/Zenith light weather potential. I think this is a constructive way of challanging the narrowing effect of hype, many planes deserve some extra attention.
Jurgen --> Needless to say i love mine (altho no XXL).

PS: that isn't just Tuomo's dog, it's his secret 4 legged thermal sniffer, barking at all rising air :D

I have had the same avatar for about year - you are the firts one to ask.

Its Basset Fauve de Bretagne http://www.bassetfauvedebretagneclub.com/
A hunting dog, too sensitive and lively for flying field :) Although I love dogs, I do not paticulary love when they try to catch my beautiful moldie when I am landing (seen that happen :censored: )

With the improved x-tail, or new v-tail, Corado XXL looks like worth testing!

We should call these what they are. Completly new models. New fuse, wing and tail.

I never forund a model that will climb as fast as my Zenith. Nope!

Hi, I have one of the first Zenith 3.7 to come into the U.S. I have had 1 1/2 days of triming and 1 contest day that I finished 2nd. As this is my first moldie all I can compair it to is a bagged wing Compulsion. The Zenith 3.7 moves accross the sky with little effort in reflex and is very stable and floaty with the wing trailing edge at neutral.

Hey, I didn't notice if you have yours flying or not but we have a few here and some with just the new tips on their 3.5 x tail. The new 3.7 flies more conventional than the 3.5, what I mean is the 3.5 needed reflex to move out and IMHO needed some reflex anytime you were not in a thermal, guys that fly it always in section even between thermals are missing out of the performance of the model. The 3.7 you can have in section most of the time and she covers ground well, I found that it thermals as well as the 3.5 and the hang time is better.

Thx Tom, RCgroups voices tell same confirming story.
Curious what the difference in flying quality is between an "upgraded" 3.5 Xtail, and a full new XXL fuse/stab concept (thus both flying identical new XXL wingtips)
