Andres

I haven't seen it before, so thanks for pointing it out. Looks like it might be useful, but mostly for overhead flight.

My experience with my ground based patch antennas is that they can be pretty directional, so it might not be all that good in an airplane if you want to do much more than fly overhead to take pictures. In a heli, as shown it is probably very good.

AFAIK the more gain a patch ant has the more directional it is. This one with a gain of 3 db may not be all that directional.

I think I remember Bill from BWAV saying it was intended for when its profile would be useful on the TX side (under the plane), but with no range benefit next to the stock whips (they're 3dBi too).

The benefit is its profile :D

Seriously, I mean if its perfomance is not worse than a standar whip, then may be useful in some cases.

Anyway it´s a bit pricey...

I have one. It is better than the standard whip when you're flying right over your head but if you're out and away, I find the whip is more consistent.

I also have one and found it marginally better than the whip if overhead, and just about useless when ranged out any distance. It's in a drawer.
