I´m still using the standard 3dBi whip, but I want a better one that doesn´t limit too much the field where I can fly.

Where can I buy a good and cheap patch?

I´m using 2,4 200mw tx from Black Widow AV

Hyperlink Tech is the labeled OEM for BW's circular patch antenna..

Hyperlink has a sister company for orders under $100. They are about a dollar cheaper on almost everything. I've ordered quite a few 2.4 WiFi antennas from them over the past month.

Many thanks :)

Excuse me, but I´m a FPV newby from one month ago and don´t understand what´s the difference between circular patch, flat patch, left hand...

What would be the correct for me?

Hey it's cool we've all been there. I know someone will correct me.. I believe the circle patch vs square patch is just personal preference. Some companies want to hide their antennas so they will make it look like a smoke detector.

As far as polarization goes.. That's how the radio signal is traveling down from the transmitter. Wikipedia has more info on this..

If you search around on RC Groups (http://www.google.com/custom?q=black+widow+polarization&sa=Go&cof=GALT%3A%23008000%3BGL%3A1%3BDIV%3A%23336699%3B VLC%3A663399%3BAH%3Acenter%3BBGC%3AFFFFFF%3BLBGC%3 A336699%3BALC%3A0000FF%3BLC%3A0000FF%3BT%3A000000% 3BGFNT%3A0000FF%3BGIMP%3A0000FF%3BFORID%3A1%3B&domains=www.rcgroups.com&safe=strict&sitesearch=www.rcgroups.com&client=pub-3653278693006306&forid=1) a bit you can see a few discussions were spawned about antennas.

My Black Widow antenna is Hyperlink model HG2409PCL meaning left hand polarization. Please note that the antenna connectors for Black Widow are RP-SMA or Reverse Polarity - SMA connector. Most of the Antennas on Hyperlink are sold with an "N-Female Connector". The RP-SMA connector is a special order and costs a bit more.

Are you sure that the Black Widow antenna connectors are RP-SMA?, or just regular SMA?

I'll admit I could be wrong since I'm at work typing this up. I'll double check when I get home.

Hi again,

Looking for SMA connectors for building the GP Patch described on Rc-Cam I found a 5dBi omnidirectional antenna in the computer section of a store, and I couldn´t resist the tentation, it was 10,90€ :p

It´s labeled how SMA connector, but it hasn´t the internal pin that have the standard whip. It´s like both the rx and antenna are female, but the thread is ok, so I wonder if anyone of theese is RP-SMA

I have used a dressmaking pin wich fits perfectly to join them, but couldn´t test it correctly because there was a lot of fog and I only could go away 200-300m in my height to do not get lost on the fog.

What of them is SMA and RP-SMA?

All the video gear = SMA
All the WiFi gear = RP-SMA

Easy :p
