Posting here because i don't imagine it's worth sending in for repair.

Shorted out two channels on my csrc balance charger bmo damaged tap (improperly repaired- my fault) and wonder if it can be fixed. Meter reads zero now on cell 2 and 3. Battery survived though taps wires are exposed and will be changed. Anyhow- here is a picture of back of board- the the knife points to one of two identical components that are obviously ruined. Any comments? cheers-jim

According to Mouser's site the device you point to is a Schottky diode...

Do a search on this board - within the last month another person repaired theirs after replacing these diodes.

Nov. 16 someone posted a thread and the component seemed to be a sk34 diode. I am guessing the proper procedure for removal is to heat w/iron and solder braid or suction bulb and remove damaged component, then replace observing proper polarity. Thanks jim

For SMT parts like that, I used to use 2 soldering irons. Hit the part from both sides and lift it off like you are using chopsticks. Then you can use wick to take up the excess solder from the pads before mounting the replacement part.

Jim,
Don't know if you've ordered yet. Give Mouser a call (www.mouser.com). I believe they have no minimum (Digikey doesn't either, they just have a $5.00 service charge below $25) or service charge. They can also ship via First Class Mail.

Yup works for me...I had to replace a 16 MHz crystal on a brushless speed controller...easy peasy with 2 irons... ;)

Well chums the mouser order came today. Used a mutimeter to determine current flow as the diodes are unmarked. Not the neatest job but they are in- basically $7 to fix and less than an hour to remove, order parts and replace. IT WORKS AGAIN. Will check completed voltage soon as 3s 3100 is done. i appreciate the spot on advice. cheers jim
