Well, This is a very slow group so I though I'd post something new. I'm the VP of the North Florida ORCAS model boat club and here is a link to our web site.

Here are some links to a couple of my scale boats that I have made.

Hi, Thanks.
The dock is made from three layers of insulation styrofoam 3/4" thick. On top of that is a layer of luann plywood doorskin with parrallel lines drawn in pencil to simulate individual boards. The sides are covered with popscicle sticks individually glued on and trimmed even with the bottom. The "pilings" are just a grouping of three dowels set into the deck at different heights and wrapped several times with some heavy string. The whole thing is glued together with GE silicone and then coated with epoxy resin top and bottom to water proof it. The popscicle sticks will warp if you dont epoxy coat them. I built three sections, each 4 feet long by 1 foot wide. I just use #64 rubber bands around the pilings to hold the dock sections together. To anchor the dock I push two short sections of PVC pipe into the ground at the waters edge and rubber band the dock pilings to them.

The dock is fun to practice maneuvering to and looks good in pictures. Also gives you a place to tye your boat when you need to take a break.

It only takes a short time to build one (compared with a boat) and they add alot to scale appearance. You could even customize one to your liking with any number of structures or figures that are commonly found on docks.

Good luck,

Bill
