Hi All,

Can anyone out there please give me some advice on prop selection? I am in the midst of building a Hydromite hydro which is scaled up by 50% over the original (Now 24 inches long instead of 16). I initially plan to use a 27x1 540 motor that was in my Tamiya RC car, to get used to driving the thing, and then upgrade to a 19x2 540 or better.

What size and pitch props should I be using with either or both motors? The original recomended were Octura X427, X430 or X431. But as the boat has been scaled up should the prop also be?

I have read about prop lift, and the recommended ones seem to be medium lift general purpose props (but octura do list proper hydro props), does a hydro need prop lift or dous the air in the tunnel do it for you.

I am very new to Rc boating, so any advice will be very much appreciated.

Thanks & Happy Holidays

Rees

Oh and another problem I think I may encounter - How does a prop fare when connected to a motor that will spin over 15000rpm (stock tamiya) and over 28000 for a lower turn motor?

Will it need gearing down, and if so how?
