I was in the LHS about 3 weeks ago to buy some materials for the Big Bird that I am building and guess what they had hanging from the ceiling. Yep, a Sagitta 600. I am so new to the sport (6 mo. on gliders) I didn't even know what it was, but a flying buddy works there and told me what it was. He said that it was kit built by a local guy that is known as a good builder. Well for 50 bucks it took me about 5 minutes to check it out and buy it.

I put 3 HS-81s in it and 555 and took it to the sod farm where we fly. Not having the plans I read that 38% of cord was a good place for the CG so that is where I set it. I had only histarted a plane twice so I had one of our best pilots fly it for the first time. He said just a little trim and it was fine.

I flew it a couple of launches and then caught a big thermal for a flight of about 12 minutes. Man o' Man, shoot a plane off a big rubber band and fly for 12 minutes, too cool. Later I had a few more short flights and then caught another big one for 14 minutes. Too bad both the thermal flights for LSF level one can't be on the same day.

You got quite a bargain! It probably would have gone for $150 or so on E-bay.

The Sagitta 600 is a top notch all wood 2- meter. In its heyday the Sagitta took first in both 2-meter and unlimited in the AMA Nationals at the hands of Brian Agnew.

Heck of a good deal. It took you five minutes to decide? You'll get faster at a swap meet. I have had all of the Sagittas and they were all good fliers. Hope you enjoy yours for years to come. Mike

Thanks for the complements :) I flew it again today. The lift was very light and it still signalled and allowed me to get some good flights. Got my 2nd 5+ minute flight for LSF level 1. Landings next Saturday and I earn Level I.
