View Full Version : Discussion Question about shipment weight

I bought a few servo's. They were about 5 grams, but UH charged me 50 gram each. That's a bit too much I think (I still do not have them). I think that the weighing system is due to major overhaul since many items are listed too heavy (could be error or lack of whatever or a simple method to get more money from customers).

I suggest the following so that shipment it is much more transparant:

List real weight and use that for shipment.
Add weight of packing material (envelope or whatever is used).

and add them together to make a total.

What do you think about this suggestion?

I noticed something like that, as well

Several of the weights I can remember have already been lowered. The HXT900 servo went from 26g to 19g and the HXT500 went from 25g to 16g. At least this is a start.

The weights are still off on alot of items and this causes the shipping to be very expensive. Almost to the point of making it less expensive to buy it here in the states.

Several items were listed at 90g but the shipping weight was 350g?? On average it seems the cost of shipping is at or above 20% of the order.

These weights are confusing and discourage me from ordering from United hobbies.

Is there a way UH can offset the cost of shipping. Especially on larger orders?

I always factor in shipping and most of the time I spend a few more dollars and get a branded item locally.

UH has the most expensive shipping in the business.

Uh, nope! Bidproduct has MUCH higher shipping.

I know what you mean. They have a contest.

Yep! I believe so. To be honest though, on my first order to UH I didn't think the shipping was all that bad. And with Bidproduct, if your careful what you order it is not that bad either. You have to figure up the total price & decide if you can get whatever it is cheaper somewhere else. The only thing I saw on their websight that was just plain rediculous was the $1.00 shipping per prop.
