Well I figured that I wanted to go brush-less on my new RC18MT so I stated looking are the setups and I didn't want to spend for the CC setup. On day two one having my truck it started to make a clicking noise. I thought it was the rear diff since the gear mesh was fine and not full of dirt. Today while running it got so bad that I was about take it all apart to see what the deal was. I was driving it in the house and all of a sudden it stopped and you could hear the motor going but nothing else. So I figure its the diff is gone, I pop it open and check the drive gear and noticed the pinion is GONE! WHAT! I look on the floor and sure enough its there! The shaft broke off the motor. To top that I found out that's what was making all the noise! So I go to grab a GWS brushed 300 I had laying around and spy a small geared Tower Pro in-runner laying around already attached to an over kill 30A ESC. So I say to myself why not? Everything fit great and bolted right up, I used the old pinon and stuck an only 2 cell on it. Well what can I say but it works great! Its just a tad faster than stock but alot more power. I ran it for about 20 Min's with only one no start and I have ALOT of start and stops because it was a little wet out and it would peel out like mad if you tried to take off fast. I am very happy it I might try it on a 3 cell later but for now it pulls only 2A to start and roll along, and 4A at full (in the air) If I run it at full and slowly set it down (adding friction) it pulls 6A before it stops. So I think I'm safe with the 30A ESC and the 2 cell. (1800mah 12C). BTW the motor is 4100kv good up to 10A.

Well got a chance to run it on a 3cell today man what a rocket! flip over backwards wheelies on command, crazy torque, will flip it self back over when upside down most of the time. Love it.

Hey Mo

What kind of esc is that? IS it for car use, with a pistol type controller?

The RX and TX is stock so yes pistol type controller, but the ESC that drives the motor is NOT a car controller. It is a jeti 30A brushless.

I have wanted to try the airplane type esc's.......how did you get around the throttle settings? I always have trouble at nuetral throttle trigger possition if the esc arms, its at half throttle.

hmm never had that issue. Plus the stock controller is able to be set to 50/50, 70/30 or 100 forward w/ no revers for racing.
