I was poking around into some old stuff that I had laying around and I found a garage door opener still intact except for some striped gear that were part of the lifting mechanism. the reomte was also close by. I was wondering if I might be able to strip the reciver out of the liting mechanism, and use it as a micro reciver. I am sure that I would be able to at least have motor controll and rudder control. Has anybody done this, is the reciver bigger then what I am thinking??
Thanx for any help you can give me!

They aren't very selective, and have low data rates.

Probably not very small... also, they aren't designed for low power. The speed control part will be too unsophisticated and probably designed to digitally switch a 110/240v motor. I have no idea how you think you can get a rudder out of this, nor how to rig up a usable transmitter for plane control. Range is probably too low.
Good full range receivers now run for £15/$30, give it up man.

Okay! For the transmitter, I was thinking of simply using the remote control that opens the garage door from your car! but thats okay, it was just a question that I thought I might ask the pro's about!
