All,
I have a Futaba 6EXA and a few spare serial and parallel cables laying around. I am not new to soldering or anything and am sure I could wire up a cable for it. I am just not sure what pins in the rectangular trainer port would have to coorespond to the serial/parallel cable.

Sure buying a USB cable would work, but why spend the money when i have the ability to do it at home.

Has anyone done this? Any info on the pinouts would be helpful, thanks!

Rick

PS: I am looking at using this with FMS is that matters.

Yes it matters and it's not just connecting some wires as you seem to think. You need to build some electronics in there too. The circuit diagrams are widely available including on the FMS website and in the documentation that comes with FMS.

Oh and those rectangular Futaba plugs are difficult to find too.

An Esky USB controller (http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=A2366225&pid=W022984) is about the same price as a USB interface (http://www.milehighwings.com/usb_cables.htm) for a Futaba 6EXA.

A non-interface audio port connection through SmartPropoPlus (http://www.smartpropoplus.com/OldSpp/index.htm) is another option, but would still require a rectangular trainer port plug for the transmitter end.
