Maybe someone would be kind enought to help me.

My son just bought the RealFlight simulator yesterday and before he opens it I want to make sure we have the requirements on our computer. We do have enough RAM, and hard drive space, and I know that I can download DirectX 9 from Microsoft (I checked all three).

So what is my question you ask? It's about a 3D accelerated video card. What is it? Until now we have used our computer for simple email, internet browsing, some word processing. It's a fairly good, fairly new Compaq that has a few devices that came with it labeled as "Sound, video, and game controllers". Listed there are devices - Realtek AC'97 Audio, Audio Codecs, Legacy Audio Driver, Media Control Devices, Legacy Video Capture Devices, Video Codecs. Are these what is referred to as the video card necessary? Do I have one or do I have to buy one. If I need to buy it, what kind/make/speed/storage device shold I get?

I am asking here, as I asked about a first R/C plane for my son and now I'm back asking for help/advice again. I asked around the office, I have a call in to RealFlight, and I will call Campaq tech support next.

Thank you to anyone that can help me and my son.

Not really... Click START-SETTINGS-CONTROL PANEL- SYSTEM and then click the Device Manager button. Select the Display Adapters + sign and tell us what actual video card you have. Or compare it to what KE/Real Flight says works.
