I've ordered a new hull, 25.5" fiberglass mono. anything special I need do for surface prep before applying paint(aside from 'scuffing' the surface with 220 grit sandpaper & degreasing) tia

You might go to offshoreelectrics.com/mainpage.htm and look at the information they show for finishing hydros. Jerry J

You may want to consider a finer grade of wet-or-dry paper, Rex. 220 may leave sandscratches that your finish coat may not cover all that easily.
Generally, all you have to do is break the existing surface glaze to get a "tooth" for
your finish. This also removes any residual wax or mold release.
Suggest you try a 320 grit paper.

nice article over at oe on painting thanks. I've done wood and abs(and gotton decent results) but not frp yet. one thing though with abs one should be careful with the 1st few coats of 'krylon'... krylon will soften abs.
