Well, first off it arrived Fed EX . They aren't my favorite folks . But the packing job from Sal was very well done ,so not so much as a scratch . Took it out of the boxes (2) weighed it with all the components supplied (even the parts bags ) Slightly under 30 oz !
Not bad for 112" and 670+ sq in ! The fit and finish are first rate .
Some of the features are unique (at least to me ). the fuse has a nose cone , but when you remove it there is no hole for the radio. That is until you turn it over . It has a nice Oval cut out on the bottom for installing everything. It came with a couple of extra incedence pins and an extra cf joiner . Very thoughtful .... Hope I never need them :) The tow hook is adjustable, and appears very well thought out. It even has a set of aileron servo cover that are fairly unique . In all this ship seems very well thought out and executed . I've been looking for a light air ship to go with my Psyko , Compulsion , And Graphite . I beleive I've found it !
Thanks Sal, for something a bit different . John

I'm happy to see someone filnally bought one of these so I can see how they prerform! They certainly are unique looking in this world full of look-a-like 3-meter sailplanes. Although I opted to go the more conservative route with the purchase of an Artemes, I'm still interested in how it performs. My main concerne would be the durability of a plane build that light. How robust does it feel? I will stay tuned with the hope that you come back to this thread and keep us updated.

Rick,
Actually it seems fairly tough for no more than it weighs .
It has CF at the Leading and trailing edges so they are fairly ding proof . Still , I don't think it will take being stepped on :) to be honest, I didn't buy it to compete with ,as I have other ships that would be better suited . I bought it to fly very light close in lift . It seems like it will be well suited to educating my thumbs for that. Also , I believe that it might be harder see see at long distance due to it's high aspect ratio and natural wood finish (both sides)
All the best , John

That plane must surely reside at the other end of the spectrum from my Milan. I was thinking just earlier today at the field that...'you know, I bet I could step on that wing and it wouldn't do a thing to it'. My Multiplex Milan weighs 93 ounces, and the wings have survived some pretty bad arrivals, like one straight into the face of a slope. Right now I have an NSP Edge for light conditions, but if you like that plane(I guess you haven't flown it yet), and you say good things about it, I'll watch for it in Sal's weekly specials in another six months or so...

Charlie
I certainly did. But... For some reason I get E-Mail ,yet can't send !!! I'm working on it !
But to answer you ? as best as I can...
1 I haven't flown it, It's my winter project
2 the bad is that there are no instructions .... Period
But then, that should make it more rewarding to fly :
# the Good ..... It's pretty much as Sal describes :
very well crafted, very light .
At a meet this weekend it was pretty much the star of the show .
Nothing Cloned here !
I do believe She'll make a very good machine for light lift days.
Idon't think you'd want to try to range it WAY FAR OUT . mostly because it's natural balsa coloured, and has a very high aspect wing .
But for me ,it seems like Sal designed it for the site I fly at.
There's a band of liftabout 50 ft off the ground almost permanently . Very narrow, and light . I can work it with my Psyko, but it doesn't take lon for me to get worn out .
BTW don't be too surprized when you take off the nose cone and find no hole for the radio,,,, It's on the bottom.
To Sum it up... If you're looking for a world beater that can cover all situations . look for something else. BUT if you want something unique for in close light lift, thats high quality . Give the MYSTIC a good looking at . Tentative CG (33% and conservative ) 2.81 "
The movements for the flying surfaces are yet to be worked out .
But, if you go to Composite Specialties and look at their set up page ,I believe you'll be close wwwf3x.com

thanks john,
many thanks for the detailed report. it may be what i am looking for. i need a lite ship as i will do hi-start launchs most of the time and want something that also works low lift.
will you be taking pictures as you build ???i would like to see some up close detailed shots.
is the wings composit ?
how much did you pay , i thought i saw it on special a few weeks back for around 600.00.

thanks for the tip on composite spec. set up page. they are on my favorites list.

Charlie,
Iwish that I COULD Take Pics. But I'm digitally challenged :
The only thing I can offer is that the CG is VERY conservative . To a better CG ..... get Ollie to give you a web site that he has ..... Look at the bottom of that page for a more complex wing .
Not much info, but it's all I've Got ! all the best John
