I'm thinking of moving the forum and would like your feedback.
What it really comes down to is the likelihood that we will need to discuss glow-powered Ornithopters in this space. If so, we should leave the forum in the Aircraft category. Otherwise, we should move it to Electric Flight.

Jim,
I can understand the need to keep an open mind for the glow powered guys. The only thing is that electric is what made this all fesable.
There had been a glow powered Ornithopter. It was manufactured by Sean Kinkade, the same maker of the Park Hawk. This bird worked ok under glow power, but was a loud and shaky beast. The newer versions of the large bird, now manufactured under agreement, run on electric too.
Other manufacturers are coming out with ornithopters as well. I have seen 4 others. All are electric.
My opinion is that this belongs under electrics as I had stated to Mr. Palmer a long while ago. I hope the vote goes to prove this as well.

Jim, at the present time I too agree that it should be in the electric air vehicle section. They have been a blast to fly (miracles really do happen)and I think the exposure in the electric section would benefit everyone. ed

As a new member of the forum I agree. A lot of discussions in this section have a lot in common with Electric Aircraft but I think it really is its own category. Its so new and involves a lot of new technology specific to flapping wing aricraft.
Maybe a Flappy Wing Electric and a Flappy Wing Gas category?
I read that Ornithopters are going to be classified as a Flapping Wing Aircraft from an aviation standpoint.

Since the only commercially available (and forthcoming) birds are electric, the move makes sense. It seems probable that the only gas birds will be one-of-a-kind homebuilts, where wild and crazy guys try to modify electric birds.
The trade off against that rare gas bird owner is the wider exposure this forum would get under Electrics. As it is, most people who cruise the electric forums never realize that the Ornithopter forum even exists. My vote is already recorded.

How about being in both? Is it technically possible for the Ornithopter be listed in both places but when you click on them the link takes you to the same place?

i havent used v-bulletin since about version 1.2 but back then it was possible with a non-official patch to cross-link forums and even threads.
and, back on topic, dont forget about the airhogs ornithopter coming out!

That Airhog looks cool! And I may even have to get one. However, if it is like the other Airhogs, you charge it up and let her rip. (No RC or even string/wire Control.) It seems to me that it falls well below the radar of the RC Groups Forums ... but that is just me.
Hmmm, I wonder if it could be modified?

I had an opportunity to meet with Jim Bourke and Sean Palmer at the NEAT Fair. It was decided that the Ornithopter forum would be moved under Electric flight! I do not know when that takes effect, but am looking forward to it.

Based on the feedback I've received, I have moved this forum to the "Electric Flight" tab.
