I just got my Sharon Pro 3,4 :p from someone today and I started surfing the net for servos and all the other cables and stuff that go in to the wings.
I thought about using 2xhitec HS125BB/MG servos for the ailerons and going digital for the flaps with 2xhitec HS5125BB/MG digital servos.I'm also thinking about 2xHitec HS85BB/MG in the fuselage.
Are these servos up to doing the job?
I also heard about people flying here with some cheap GWS BB/MG that have more torque in the specs(5.4kg to the 3kg that the hitecs have). But they said that they aren't happy with the centering of these servos.I am a little afraid to use them with this glider but they will save me from the all the waiting because I don't have to order them abroad,so I realy don't know what to do.

The HS125 MG will strip very easy I would not use them. The Airtronics 94761 is a very good servo. If I was you I would use them all around.

Hi Tomcat,

I have to agree wholeheartedly with Cody....my own experience has shown that the 125 and 5125 final output gear with servo arm spline has poor metallurgy and will simply crumble in your hands. Some will hold up, and then some will just break, break, break. You have to imagine that the Sharon has some pretty good size flaps, and I'm sure you paid a very pricey sum for that beauty. So, take my advice as someone who has been there...install the best servos you can buy. Don't cheap out. Not that the Hitec servos are cheap, as they are not. Most all of their servos are very high quality backed by the best warranty in the industry. But the 125 and 5125 servos have a problem, and servo gears for them will cost you $25.00 a set. Might I recommend the JR 3421 servo....it has proven to be a very good servo for flaps. The HS-85MG is good for the elevator and rudder as well as ailerons, but I recommend the JR 368 for the elevator and flap, as these servos seem to be smoother and center up more reliably. The ailerons will do fine with HS-85MG servos.

Yep what Cody and Mike say. I havent used the airtronics servos but I have no doubt that they are good. I use ds-368 in my planes as I find them to be tough and priced just in line with the other servos. Dont go cheap on a good plane like the Sharon.

You can spend the money now once or replace them all later

Another vote for JrDS 368/3421, I have some Airtronics but have not tried them yet. I have had the Hitec let go too, just not tough enough for unlimited wing use.

I have ised the Airtronics servos in my Evo XL all year and they have worked great. They are a tad thinner than the 368's and fit in thinner wings such as the Supra ailerons or the Evo XL ailerons. I did use the 3421 on my stab for it's extra torque. I think this is a great bullet proof set of servos.

OK,I think I'm going to go with HS-85MG for ailerons and tail.I'll have to take a look at all the servos you guys recomanded and make a decision.
I was afraid that servos would strip, because with my luck,if thy would strip I would get the flaps stuck at differnet angels

Hi Tomcat,

In using the stronger servos, or even the ones that strip gears, you won't have to worry much about servo failure in the air. In my experience, I have not had a servo get stuck due to a failure while in the air. Mine get broken on landing or due to hanger rash...or some other stupid thing... like flexing the flap with the power turned on and expecting something not to break...dopey me! But make no mistake, a stripped servo is just aggravating at the least. I think you have pretty good suggestions on what to buy. Just remember, if you cheap out, you won't have to worry about answering to this rabble of guys who may never let you live it down for being dopey. You WILL have to live with yourself for being cheap and paying the price of a crashed or damaged plane when you got the best advice possible from some very well respected pilots, (and I am not referring to myself ). So, let your conscious be your guide.
