We have a young man thats been hanging around the field for a few weeks asking the usual sort of things . Well, this weekend he shows up with one of those electric ships with a poly wing and V tail . The rudder is operated by mono line , no elevator. Pretty weird . Any way after some discussion , I'm elected to do the DEED. Well it flies ,so I give it to him . He's better at it than I am !
Well after a couple flights the battery and I am tired . So I put up the wife's Aspire . I let him have a go a few times, only taking it from him for landing This young man probably is still grinning .
I wish there were more days like this . It's a reward all in itself.
All the best , John

Well I guess my two sons that I have taught to fly don't quailify as kids (in their 50's) nor does my 21 year old grandson but have just started teaching my 10 year old grand daughter and will agree it makes it all worthwhile!!!:D

Hers one for ya.

My son Bret age 11 entered his first contest this weekend. He places 5th and was only behind by a little. He flew my plane and it was agreed that I could launch for him. All contestants were DLGing thier planes. He did a fantastic job. Thats him in front of the proud Dad

I kinda miss that; we used to take out a Cub Scout group once in a while and get them to fly c/l. I had the World's Best c/l Trainer, and we could get 20 kids to fly out a tank each by the end of the session. Ther is nothing that can beat the look on a kid's face when The Light goes on... Ah! THAT's how it works!!!

Later, we used to jam the tx into the hands of the closest kid (or Mom) and let them hunt thermals into the ground with the Oly ll or GL. How else can we keep this complicated hobby alive?
