Safety pilot during autonomous flight

Hi all, I was wondering how different teams are monitoring autonomous flight. I would think that your safety pilot would be at the switch ready to take over manual flight while setting gains, etc. At the limits of visibility do you feed downlink data to a dedicated laptop for attitude, track, etc for the use of the safety pilot?

I fly my UAV by video goggles anyways, so range is not a problem. No safety pilot needed, I watch it in the goggles and if the plane does not do what I want it to do I just fly it myself. Its very easy. Making it to complicated, and getting others involved increases chances of mistakes, miscommunication, etc.
