Hi all, I come from the airplanes forum to request advice/input for an idea. I do not know if this have been done before (probably it has) but I'd like to hear from the experts.
I fly my seaplanes off of a small pond in my backyard. When they capsize or just quit on me, I need to wait until the wind blows then to shore. I could get a small rubber boat to go rescue them, but haw about a r/c raft or special boat to push the models ashore?
Has anyone heard of this? I think it would have to be kind of heavy, estable, slow and powerful with a big prop and rudder. Can anyone give me some hints?
Thanks so much.

hrbeta,
Lots of boats are used as retrievers or rescue boats. Sort of depends on what you have, or what you like, or how you 'like' to do it. Unless your seaplanes are quite large, it won't take as large a boat as you might think.
Probably the simplest way to do it would be to use a fairly small boat (not a 'go fast' thingy) to drag a fishing line, circle the plane a couple of times, then just reel in the whole 'mess'. Or use a boat to drag a 'snare' behind it, circle the plane a couple of times and then drive it back to shore. Or use a 'pusher' boat and push it back. Or a flying crane and... naw, to complicated. You see where I'm going with all this, right? Just depends on how/what you wanna do.
Here's one source for fairly inexpensive boats. Also has quite a few 'retrieval' methods shown.

If you search the boards for rescue boat (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/search.php?searchid=8259043) or retrieval boat (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/search.php?searchid=8259057), you'll find lots of answers. Way too many to try and post them all here.
