"For distribution with a new HP or Compaq PC only".
That's OEM software, and is hence non-transferrable. Even if, like me, you don't actually care, consider this: there's a good chance that you won't be able to re-activate it on your own hardware - trust me, I've tried.
60$ is a bit high for a proper, legal OEM copy, sold with the hardware (usually a case fan) that it was originally bought with.
(For the record, I hate Microsoft more than almost anyone.)
Buy at your own risk.

Thanks for your headsup. I was not aware of that. It's just sitting around so I thought I'd try and get rid of it to someone who wants to mess with it. It's just sitting around..
There's ways to get the XP to work if you know the "trick".
Make me an offer!

Having dealt with MS before, I can say that it's easier (and just as illegal) to just pirate it. (Note that I have never pirated Windows. I have, however, had to deal with MS after replacing the motherboard on an old PC, and I never want to have to deal with them again.)
The loophole to this?
Send a piece of the computer with it - like a case fan or some screws.
Then, it's legal, but still a major headache.
EDIT: Why was this post reported?
