View Full Version : Discussion Lets Give RCU a little "friendly" competition

I'm sure that some have felt the "pressure" by RCU in censoring our posts. Sure, RCgroups can do the same, but their sign on disclaimer seems less nonsensical.
We should be able exercise our 1st amendment rights.
I'll start:
1. I don't like the way Anton is handling his business ethics.
2. ET should not "need" censoring. His posts are usually funny and witty and yes, even at times helpful... :D
3. Lets increase our knowledge base by increasing our sources of information.

1. I don't like the way Anton is handling his business ethics.
What exactly has Anton done? I'm not involved but this is my perception:
1- He subcontracted with China manufacturers to provide relatively low cost ARF jets. This enabled many people to afford and enjoy scale jets
2-He and the subcontracted factories parted ways... Why? I don't know but its a business dispute that I do not have access to the information required to make a judgement
3-These factories are now bringing the model directly to the market, creating strong competition. Good for customers, bad if you are in the business
4-Becuase of this strong competition, Anton is now offering a second channel for lower cost models (Xtreme), while still offering s higher cost/higher quality? channel (ARF Plus). Good for customers, bad if you are inthe business
I know that the Skymaster dealers are hurting because of the increased competition... But I do not have any real information of what exactly are the ethics issues...

Excellent points!! And I agree with you on EVERYONE of them!! :D
Frankly, what I don't like is the fact that he emailed Tam and told him that he is, effectively, trying to steal all his ideas and that any ideas he had in the past he got lucky enough to put them out before he could steal them!! He wrote it in plain Taiwan-glish!! Its posted for everyone to see!! Go look for it yourself, in Todd's post!!
I think Anton should strive to make a better product. Not just steal from someone else. That's the problem I have.
Far be it from me to think that Tam is a saint. Shoot I know he's made thousands off of me. He could have made me a better deal on many things. But he didn't try to steal my money "out of my mouth" per se, I think I got a reasonable deal on the things that I bought from him. I'm not sure what this last paragraph has to do with our discussion, however...

Agree with you here, but that came after..
People were accusing him on the net of bad ethics well before that. To me its likely he is as bad other people make him, but I think some people just want to damage his reputation as part of business war/strategy.

I totally agree with you regarding the censorship & gross missuse of moderation on RCU. The jet forum there is a classic example. They are driving people away.
Lets hope the jet forum here will become more popular. I am sure it will as more become disillusioned by that other place.

Can you believe this cry baby Bullsh*t???
Raf
"Guys...some posters here seem to be having a very difficult time staying within the rules here. Some think it is ok to launch personal attacks or simply make up their own rules and then cry censorship when the moderator comes in to do their job.
Be rest assured there is a major difference between censorship and moderating to keep things civil and the flow of information moving here. I constantly hear cries that we don't let people say a bad thing about an advertiser but for those who wish to truly challenge that and put their money where their mouth is let me know and I'll show posts about each one of our advertisers that fly directly in the face of these absurd claims not only in jets but throughout rcu.
If this was "DisneyLand" where only positive things were allowed do you honestly think the site would be where it is today and still growing faster than ever? Those who shout these absurd cries are the ones who are posting personal attacks or making completely unfounded statements. Many of them are often found to be reps or friends of competitors which is disturbing when this sort of thing happens.
We have some very good moderators here who are very fair and even handed. Those who get a post removed tend to argue otherwise but that has always been the way since day one.
If you are going to say something negative make sure you do not make it personal. Be sure to express your opinion or facts clearly and not in any personal way. If you are going to make damaging claims about some company you must have some facts to back it up. It is not fair to any company whether advertiser or not to slam them in a completely arbirtrary or unfounded way. If you have facts then we encourage you to post them. Remember there is no such thing as libel or slander when you are telling 100% truth. Keep that in mind and you are guaranteed your posts will stand the test of time.
The forums are here to help share information about radio control and in particular for this forum jets. I am sure everyone is capable of acting in a mature fashion. It is not too much to ask. Most members do exactly this and never have problems. This is actually 99% of our membership. The other 1% seem to cause all the problems and also generate 99% of the complaints about rcu and its moderators. There is food for thought. So this is directed towards that 1% as we want you to remain on rcu and have you share your knowledge and opinions but won't do so at the expense of creating chaos or undeserved damage to any company from false statements.

I PMed in reply to this statement, & put them in the picture about what was actually happening in the forums (jet in particular). I mentioned that the problems were being caused by one mod in particular, who has raised his status to the sublime.
We must try & encourage some of the other guys to come over here. It just needs the ball to start rolling, then it will be self generating.

Here Here. I have really had it with them. The censorship is just getting out of hand. I(afterburner on rcu) have had numerous posts deleted in the last month or so. I for one will surely start spending more time here and encouraging others to come by. I think that the RCU jet forum needs a couple of Ghostbusters :D to come through and clean up.

ET(from RCU) tells me that this place is even worse than RCU? I find that hard to believe because a "lets give RCGroups a little competition" thread, I'm sure, would get deleted in a new york minute!!

Raf,
You're not even allowed to mention RC Groups in a thread there. E.T. is MIA lately?
On a side note, about your F-15, do you think the 5955 had a hard over failure? I just got a JL F-15 and was seriously considering them but now I'm thinking 8611A's. Sorry again.

Well I have 5955 on my Boomerang XL... So far so good... :)
Do a search on the forums and make your choice.. There have been failures with all.. The 5955 have been in the market for some time now..

Marty. ET is on moderator status in that "other place". Means his posts are vetted before they appear on a forum. I think he is refusing to post under these restrictions.
ET is a blessing & a liability at times, but he certainly generates life into forums. When a spirited debate in which he is involved gets going, the thread hits soar. Boring threads heavily moderated get little interest.
I wish he was here. It would certainly liven things up. Worth the risk.

What post of his did I miss that got him that punishment I wonder? I'll send him a pm to come on over here and see what happens :D. I would think that more than 50% of the posts or threads that get deleted or locked over there would be ok over here. They have turned that forum into a kindergarden class.

Well said Marc, I could not agree more... problem with these whingers be it here or on other forums is they nearly always are guilty themselves of 'exactly' the same BS that they spew and blame others of....
Notice that they are mostly the resellers and their groupies NOT the manufacturers themselves complaining, so they will take a side that best suits there $$ position. You will never see these types appologise or admit wrong doing either when caught out they just tend to dissapear with tails between legs.......You just gotta love seeing karma play out 'what goes around comes around' eventually! For those who remember the early jet joe threads right here on RCG and for that matter on RCU checkout those JJ trumpet blowers and note who aint around now to support them hmmm? (just an example)
Re- Skymaster who knows???? who cares? bottom line is cheaper and better quality models for us modellers and thats what the majority really are only interested in.....
:p ;) :D

Actually www.rchangout.com (AKA RCflying.net,) and Marc @ RCU started out at about the same time using the same forums based software,...
Marc won out and they've been at odds with each other many times, So I know RChangout would welcome a free speech Jet hangout. Manufacture monies are'nt a problem yet.........
Heres an example:

You guys whining here are the problem makers every where you go. You guys jump from site to site and start your idiotic behaviors. You jump from RCU to RC Jets and now found your way here to continue with your childish behaviors. Why not grow up and respect yourself and you will get respect in return or why not go back to RC Jets and hang out with the Mr. Congeniality Lt.Dan. He is the biggest liar I’ve even seen in my life. Danny –Boy why not be a man and come her where you can not censor posts that point out your lies and we can expose you and your lies.

Although I thought for a moment that it wasn't even worth responding to your posts, I couldn't let these ridiculous statements go.
Apparently your IQ is only superceded by your number of posts in addition to your pal commenting "Well said UFO". First thing, the screen name afterburner was already taken when I registered here some time ago. You could have checked that before opening your mouth and sounding somewhat ignorant. Second, why would I state my screen name on RCU in my post if I wanted to stay anonomous here?
The reason people are posting here is because their comments or opinions have been stifled, removed, deleted on RCU and only because they have an opinion which doesn't jive with RCU's restrictive rules. They have a place to vent here without being censored. Why do you have to jump in on this thread and have an attitude? You already know from the title what's in the thread so just don't read it.

Because you have about 14 posts under your belt is irrelevant here. Take a look at my sign up ate and you will find out that for about 2 years before you crawled out from the rock and signed up here. Some of us like to use this forum for the information that it provides and to listen to trouble makers like you that will run from site to site and create havoc. Go check my name on RCU and you will notice that I do not post that much there either but I read all the posts from intelligent people that try to pass their knowledge to other and not fools like you. I ‘ve just had it with site hoppers like you and that is why I decided to post. I’ve also read what you and some of your other side hoping friends posted on RC-Jets where you are protected by your fellow fool Danny-Boy. Time for you to grow up. We do not want to read about your problems with other sites. You created it for yourself sp live with it. Do not come here anymore to open your mandibles and spew your venom here.
Now crawl to the hole you came from and stay there until you are ready to contribute possitivly to this forum

Then don't read them.
I'm not crawling into any holes like your countrymen did in April of 1940 when the Germans walked right in without any resistance. If it wasn't for freedom loving countries like The U.S. and England, you probably wouldn't even be alive today and if you did happen to be born, you certainly wouldn't be able to speak your mind on a forum such as this or your other two posts about a flight simulator or how to make a depron plane so why don't you appreciate that you can.
You also mention that this place is for people to post useful information. I agree. Unfortunately, some useful information is not allowed to be posted on RCU because it's detrimental to their advertisers. It may be true, but you can't post it. Wake up.

Nobody is forcing you to be a member of any R/C forum site. If you don't like what goes on over at RCU then go in and close your membership! Nooooooo, you'd rather go to other forum sites and cry like a baby. Try growing up and be a man!
This site has rules also. If you break them you can be tossed out on your ear here also.
Freedonm of speech? First amendment rights? You can sit there and spew that all day long but I guess that you really don't know what the laws are of Freedom of Speech.
