Is it a cynical remark?

Well, Sorry. Yes, it works for most people. The first time might take little longer because you sometimes have to make some calibrations, but afterwards it is very simple and the quality is good. Try it. It is free.

Not only is it good, it is also better. It can even work with PCM modes for Futaba and JR.
Unfortunately we need to make our own cables.

Hehehe ... I expected the SmartPropo to have a "Grow a Cable" menu function. Shaul, can you please do that?

Thank you OthmanSkn. Good to know that some people actually use it. At my end I get only the cases that are not so happy.
Stefan, How do you do it in C++? Probably something like CCable::GrowOnePlease(Null, NULL, 1,NULL,_T("JR"));
Well, really, free software cannot be shipped with free hardware. However I'm surprised that no-one is selling these cables.
If there is such a vendor I will be happy to add a link in my site.

Shaul,
I have had great success using SmartPropo with my airtronics RD6000 super and a homemade cable attached to the soundcard "line in".
Thanks for your work,
Al

Thank you Specter. Actually, I made most of the development with my RD8000 - so no wonder it works with the RD6000.
Most of the complaints arrive from novices that own a low-end Tx connected to their Laptop's Microphone input. This combination of low quality hardware driving a too-sensitive input causes me a lot of headache.

Works great for me too...
After finding that the XP drivers for my Ripmax (UK) joystick interface don't play nicely with some programs, I used the cable that came with the interface, connected it to the line in on my soundcard and loaded up Smartpropoplus and ppjoy. Works with everything I care to use it with...
Nice bit of lateral thinking.

Thank you, shaul ei, I really enjoy using Smart Pro Plus with FMS and my hitec eclipse 7, I would like to add that at first it only worked for about ten minutes at a time, then it got twitchy,I then removed the spectra module from my tx and it has worked perfect ever since, could you tell me why this is, I built my cable with 1/8" mic plug and a trainer cord, I thought when you shorted the two wires together it bypassed the module, I'm confident I connected every thing right, but who knows. Any way, I'm am just wondering what I did wrong, as I am sure it is myfault. btw- I have a dell with p4, windows xp. thanks again, Clink

Clink,
It seems to me that you where using your Tx for simulation with the RF module in and the antenna collapsed. This is a very good way to overheat your Tx while draining the battery.

I tried Smartpropo PLus for ppjoy on a notebook. The result was strange: all controls keep moving with high random amplitude. (WinXP sp2)
A LPT cable is working more or less on the same notebook, but the result is unusable too. While the controls are working, there are rare random jumps.
The ppm signal seems correct (on oscilloscope). A Hitec usb cable is working very well with the same radio and notebook.
Any idea?

im having same troubles as mmormota except worse i have no input or very little and it keeps jumping all over
what happens if i use a stereo plug instead of a mono plug?

Well, leave SPP alone for a minute. Use WinScope. Do you see your Tx signal? If not, you have a connectivity problem. Check your Tx, your cable and more importantly - your selected input.

Hi, I am trying to test the ClearView with my Futaba radio via the PC sound
card.
I can hear the radio with the "Win recorder", and I have installed the drivers
(SmartPropoPlus interface and PPJoy joystick driver), but it is not working, the radio does not affect any of the inputs that are visible in the setup menu.
I have XP SP2.
Any idea?

Hi all,
I'm using SPP and a Sanwa(Airtronics)RD6000 for ClearView with homemade trainer/line in cable, it works GREAT, thanks :)

You should check you have the latest version of generic SPP from the website (my setup only seems to work with the latest version which has the "Filter" option on the menu)
Setup the parallel port joystick from >Start>Programs>Parallel Port Joystick>Configure Joysticks.........
See whether the joystick can be calibrated in Windows >Start>Settings>Game Controllers.....
Check that the audio jack that you're using is connected properly to the line in socket (if you've used a mono plug then it may NOT be !!!, jiggle it 'til you can hear the proportional buzz from your speakers)
You *have* to start SPP console before your sim, a notification should pop up to say "SmartPropoPLus Console" "PPJoy Connected"
Then you can select and calibrate the parallel port virtual joystick in ClearView
