Anybody got any experience with the Valenta Sharp Wind. How do you rate this plane as a budget entry or competative machine in the right hands?

There was an excellent review of the Sharp wind written by Brian Sharp in QEFI early this year.
Any problems getting a copy of it send me a pm and I'll dig through my back issues

Your post is in the thermal duration forum so I assume you want a thermal duration ship.
Unless you are really trying to stretch your budget, why pay $849.00 for a Sharp Wind when you can buy an Experience Pro X tail for $1029, or a Vision for $1099 or a Shadow X tail for $1099 at Soaring USA? ( maybe less if you buy one of them on sale) All three have more time, and favorable press, on the contest circuit than the Sharp Wind.
