If I am reading the specs correctly, the E-Maxx does not have a
brake. The truck obviously functions without a brake, but how well ?

How would someone put a brake on this truck ? Change the ESC to an
after market one ?

What specs are you reading that say it doesn't have brakes?

Taken from the Traxxas web site:
The Traxxas EVX has all the great features you would expect from a speed
control built by Novak including Smart BrakingT, programmable functions,
thermal shutdown, and Novak's exclusive One-Touch Set-UpT.

If you are reading the review from RC CarAction of the PROTOTYPE that
Traxxas loaned them, then yes, it had no real breaks. the ESC was not
equipped with one. But it was a Prototype. (Many years ago.)
All production E Maxx vehicles have breaks. Mine will summersault with the
stock ESC.

That, or something similar, was most likely what I was reading. As
the no brake statement was definitely there. I did look at the Traxxas
web a few minutes ago and see that brakes are part of the current model
run. Thanks.

I was really curious how an RC truck could get such good reviews and
not have brakes ! Did not make sense to me.

So, how do you "E" owners like your choice ? Do you use the truck to
bang around the yard or go to tracks and race ?

There seems to be hundreds, or at least more than a hundred, of
aftermarket parts for the truck. Does anything need to added to the
truck out of the box to make it run good ? Or is the truck okay as it is
when it comes out of the box ?

The E-Maxx is a pretty rock solid truck straight out of the box. The motors
are about the only things that will let you down sooner than later.

Have you looked at the E-Savage?

If I had to choose between the two I would get the E-Savage over the E-Maxx.
The biggest reason is the E-Savage is a true RTR unlike the E-Maxx. The
E-Savage comes with a twin battery charger and a pair of 3300 battery packs,
with the E-Maxx these are added extra's you have to get separately, which is
pretty harsh considering they are both the same price.

The other bonus of the E-Savage is that it's sold with a choice of 3
different bodies a Baja Bug body, truck body or ATV body.

I have both an E Maxx and a T Maxx.
The E Maxx gets the most use.
I love the truck, raced it when new but I gave up competing a while ago. I
do some serious bashing, I like the fact that it doesn't break unless you do
something real stupid. I have done some amazing things with mine and it
holds up well.
Never ran an E Savage, but I have heard good things about it too.
