I have been using FMS for some time now and it is great to learn on. I am getting into Hand launch gliders and sloping but can’t figure out how to use the slope gliders I have downloaded. Does anyone do sloping on FMS and can you tell me how to use this option?
Thank you,
Phil

This is the first time I have ask a question and not recieved at least one reply. I will assume none of the Glider guys read this group.
Thanks anyway, :(

Low and slow, people around here don't give FMS the credit it deserves. I have flown some gliders on mine, I turn up the wind and the termals and I can fly for a while, but do not know how realistic it is. W key is for the winch take off and R key is for hand launch, is this what you needed to know? Have fun with your gliders, Clink

The flight models in Crrcsim and (my) SSS are better than FMS for gliders. The wind-field modelling is better than in FMS too I think (though I don't know about thermals). Graphics can look better than FMS (it obviously depends on a lot of things).
So... my guess is most glider people don't use FMS because there's other options that are better if you just want to concentrate on gliders. Both crrcsim and SSS were written by glider people for glider people.

I've tried sloping in FMS but the wind doesn't follow the contour of the land so you get no lift. I may be mistaken or a newer patch may have addressed this as I hardly use FMS after getting AFPD,(wich i have great fun with)

Thanks for the info Guys, perhaps I will try Crrcsim.

Try SSS as well (it's free) and it offers more variation in landscapes than CRRC.

SSS is awesome for slope flight, though I find it to be buggy -- it sometimes will not run with more than 3 robots, and then other times will only run with more than 3!
CRRCSim is the *only* sim that accurately and reliably models thermal flight. I have used it extensively in the older versions and except for the problem of 2D perspective (there is none) and the resulting difficulties picking out thermals, flying it is quite realistic. I can only fly the sim with the thermal indicators (circles in the sky) turned on. Good luck!

Guys,
It took me several months but I now know how to Slop in FMS. I don’t know how realistic it is as I have not found a good slope site in my area.
Ok here we go…just load one of the slope sites in the Landscape requester. You will be looking down from an elevated location. Load a plane and hit the “R” key to hand launch and off you go. That is all there is to it. :o
If you have flown slope for real please let me know if it is any good to learn on.
Thank you,
Phil
